The program drives participants' careers by providing them with innovation tools and techniques to take their digital marketing skills to the next level and a valuable understanding of how companies can reinvent their marketing strategies and processes in order to become more competitive in the dynamic new digital world.

By program, among those taught in Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Querétaro (Mexico) and Lima (Peru), the number of graduates where:

  • 13 of the Specialty in Energy Administration.
  • 370 of the EGADE MBA.
  • 19 of the EGADE UNC Charlotte MBA in Global Business & Strategy.
  • 14 of the Full-Time MBA in Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

  • 1 of the Master in Marketing.
  • 2 of the Master of Administration.
  • 4 of the Doctorate in Administrative Sciences.
  • 5 of the Doctorate in Financial Sciences.

The ceremony was chaired by Juan Pablo Murra, Rector of Professional and Graduate Studies at Tecnológico de Monterrey; Ignacio de la Vega, Dean of EGADE Business School and Tec's Undergraduate Business School; Laura Zapata, Associate Dean of Academics at EGADE Business School, and Raquel Castaño, Associate Dean of Faculty Development at EGADE Business School.

“As graduates of EGADE Business School and above all as citizens who have been able to continue their studies and work responsibilities in a context that has left millions of people in a precarious and vulnerable situation, you have the opportunity and responsibility to use all this knowledge and privilege in the generation of a more prosperous, equitable and just future,” said De la Vega, in his message to the graduates.

THREE LESSONS ON CONTINUOUS PREPARATION, PURPOSE, AND LEADERSHIP

Jorge Luis Torres Aguilar, CEO of FedEx Express Mexico, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Mexico and OneMBA graduate, served as guest speaker.

In his message, the guest congratulated the graduates for having completed their postgraduate studies during an unprecedented peculiar year and shared three lessons learned from their experiences:

  1. The importance of continuous preparation: “When you have a true commitment to fulfill your objectives, when you have clear priorities and are faithful to your own principles, decisions are easier and there is no distance that stands between your decision, your will and your commitment, and the fulfillment of your goals, such as constant preparation in a changing world. Today's sacrifice is an investment for the future.”

  2. Have clearly defined your purpose in life: "It seems to me that working for or to 'achieve success' is a mistake frequently made when you do not have a clear idea of what success is. The biggest obstacle to success is having the wrong concept of what it means. I like and share John G. Maxwell's definition of success: success is knowing your purpose in life, growing to your full potential, and sowing seeds that benefit others."

  3. Update your leadership style to the new reality: "A truly assertive and effective leader is one who not only 'fulfills' his task, but is one who consistently exceeds any expectation and generates, and even exceeds the expected result, Despite obstacles, despite adverse conditions, despite not having all the resources, despite going against the current, always. Today more than ever our leadership management model must be resilient, with the ability to adapt to a new reality.”

"Without a doubt, the most important lesson that I carry with me, having graduated from EGADE Business School, is that I came out much better equipped personally and professionally, not only to face the future but to define it," said Torres Aguilar, distinguished this year among the 25 Influential Leaders of AACSB International and with the EXATEC EGADE Award.

A COMMON CHALLENGE: 'BE OUR BEST VERSIONS'

On behalf of her generation, Nada Kolar, a graduate of the EGADE MBA, spoke a few words in honor of her colleagues.

"Our journey began a little over two years ago when we made one of the most important decisions of our lives. At that time, no one imagined that at the time of our graduation the world was going to be such a different place.

"I congratulate each and every one of you for all the monumental effort you have invested. Each of us decided to take this path for different reasons and purposes, but what we all have in common is that we challenge ourselves to be the best versions of ourselves, and I want to think that we all left here with the strong motivation to leave our mark and use our influence to make the world a fairer place with equal opportunities for future generations", said Kolar.

The graduation also featured messages from Jaime Martínez Bowness, Daniel Maranto, Raúl Montalvo and Ivan Valdovinos, directors of the EGADE Business School sites in Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara and Lima, Peru; and José Ernesto Amorós, National Director of Doctoral Programs at EGADE Business School.

To conclude the ceremony, Murra formally took the protest to the new graduates.

With this new generation, the total number of academic degrees awarded by EGADE Business School rises to 6,863.

EGADE Student Assists with Book to Enhance Companies’ Productivity and Efficiency

Submitted by jose.paz on Fri, 12/11/2020 - 15:25

His work presents a guide to implement the model known as El Cubo, for continuous improvement in organizations from any sector and of any size.

By JOSÉ ÁNGEL DE LA PAZ | EGADE BUSINESS SCHOOL

Santiago Mayagoitia, EGADE MBA student at the EGADE Business School Guadalajara site, coauthored the book El Cubo. Guía para la mejora continua y transformación organizacional, published this year by the publishing house Alfaomega.

This is a peculiar and innovative work owing to its double approach to the subject matter.

On the one hand, it is a technical book that documents a useful, practical model to show professionals or organizations that continuous improvement means a great deal more than carrying out Lean Six Sigma projects.

At the same time, it is a dynamic novel in which two characters, Enrique and Daniel, share how to deploy the same model to develop and consolidate their continuous improvement program, without failing in the attempt.

“Our model is called El Cubo and is the product of over 25 years’ experience in collaborating to improve efficiency and productivity in multinational corporations. It generates quantifiable, sustainable benefits through the organizational culture, and is applicable in companies from any sector or of any size,” Mayagoitia said.

He explained that the model’s structure consists of six concepts (one for each face of a cube):

  • Foundations: are the elements that support a real change through the organization’s vertical and horizontal alignment.
  • Culture: communication, change and habits are three of the pillars of this face.
  • Focus: know the priorities for reducing costs, not quality.
  • System: Lean Six Sigma tools used on the basis of an orderly system applicable to all types of organizations.
  • Sustainability: maintain the improvements achieved.
  • Promotion: the personality of continuous improvement since it contributes to communicating organizational initiatives.

The coauthor commented that the El Cubo model has been presented at national and international events, such as the Mexico Business Summit, OECD Global Forum on Productivity and the IQPC OPEX Week in Australia.

The EGADE MBA student is the founder of CI Academy and Lean Six Sigma International, Vice Chairman of the Jalisco Coordination Council for Young Entrepreneurs,  and, in 2019, was named Engineer of the Year by the Jalisco Union for Societies of Engineers.

#EGADE2020: Greta Espinoza, Passion for Soccer and Business

Submitted by jose.paz on Tue, 12/08/2020 - 12:25

Mexico Women’s National Squad member and Tigres defender forms part of the EGADE Business School Class of 2020, graduating from the Master in Business Management.

By JOSÉ ÁNGEL DE LA PAZ | EGADE BUSINESS SCHOOL

Greta Espinoza transformed 2020 into a year of success.

December brought her the prospect of reaping not one, but two rewards: next week she will be graduating from the Master in Business Management (MBM) at EGADE Business School and playing in the Grand Final of the Women’s Liga MX.

As a result, the 25-year-old soccer player, who comes from Tijuana, Baja California, will be celebrating all the effort and hard work she has invested in earning a graduate degree together with the pursuit of her third championship with Tigres Women.

“Studying a master’s was always part of my plans,” commented the defender, who wears number 4 with the feline team.

From the very beginning of her university life, soccer and academic studies have gone hand in hand. As an undergraduate, Greta studied business administration and played soccer at Arizona Western College and Oregon State University in the United States.

Her outstanding performance led her to be called up to the Mexico National Women’s team when she was just 16 years old, and to début as a professional with the Spanish club Levante in 2017.

“In the National Squad, one of my teammates (Cristina Ferral) was studying the Master in Finance, which intrigued me. Then, while I was in Spain the opportunity arose to play in Mexico and also study at EGADE,” she explained.

After joining Club Tigres in 2018, Espinoza enrolled in the Master in Business Management in 2019, as part of the second generation of this renowned program at the Monterrey site of EGADE Business School, and had the chance to complete a corporate immersion at Accenture.

“Now that I have finished my studies, I feel that this was the best decision I could have made. The MBM changed me professionally and personally. It has given me a different perspective of business and more tools to have a greater impact on the people around me and on the world,” she said.

According to Espinoza, “A business has to represent you as a person, reflect your ethics, your values, your passion, generate shared value and support a social cause."
