EGADE MBA alum and international accrediting association honoree is the founder of Mujeres Mexicanas con Discapacidad (Mexican Women with Disabilities) and leader of the Diversity and Inclusion Office at Tec de Monterrey.

Maryangel García-Ramos, activist and advocate for diversity and inclusion in Mexico, was honored in 2022 as one of the select group of 27 Influential Leaders by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), the most important business school accreditation organization in the world.
This annual recognition is awarded exclusively to graduates from the over 900 AACSB-accredited institutions, who, given their track record and impact, serve as a model for the next generation of business leaders across the globe.

Maryangel, an EGADE MBA alum, is a woman with motor disabilities who has worked for over 15 years to bring about a transformation in the recognition of rights, which has influenced her life purpose.
She is aware of the opportunities and privileges that come with studying for a master's degree, which is just one of the opportunities, together with others related to health services and employment, which are not readily available to the majority of persons with disabilities in Mexico.
As a result, she has dedicated her leadership and talent to advocate for and elevate the rights of persons with disabilities and extensively champion Mexico’s diversity and inclusion agenda.
“We are living in a time of enormous systemic inequality in which even considering a world that recognizes us through meritocracy is naive and insensitive. Looking at diversity and inclusion strategies with a vision of reducing inequalities is of utmost importance in organizations, educational institutions, and the community, thereby ensuring that no one is left behind. There can be nothing about the community without community. We don’t need a voice (we already have that); we need a platform and a place in the decision-making process for designing society and systems to include each and every one of us,” Maryangel commented, on being named an Influential Leader.
As founder and director of the nonprofit Mujeres Mexicanas con Discapacidad, Maryangel has achieved considerable reform to advance equality and protection for women with disabilities in Mexico.
She has developed labor inclusion and innovation strategies for NGOs and organizations such as Tecnológico de Monterrey, where she currently collaborates as the Diversity and Inclusion Office leader at the institution’s Center for the Recognition of Human Dignity.
As part of her work at Tec, she has participated in the creation of five committees which represent diverse groups: gender equality, persons with disabilities, LGBT+ community, socioeconomic diversity, and cultural diversity. She currently sits on the Tec gender diversity committee Impulsa and works with the other four committees.
Maryangel has represented Mexico at the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and has reached thousands of future leaders through her TEDx Talks, “The Power of My Story” and “The Disability Revolution,” and through her keynotes, including “Sex, Beauty, and Women with Disabilities” and “The Disability Story: Diversity in the Media,” at SXSW.
NPR named her one of Six Fearless Women who were an inspiration in 2018. In 2021, InStyle magazine recognized her as one of the 30 Badass Women in Mexico to follow, while Hulu featured her story in the mini-documentary Acentos Bienvenidos.
Maryangel has also won numerous awards for championing diversity and inclusion, most recently Premio Incluye and the Mujer Tec Award.

Maryangel's Class of 2022 AACSB Influential Leaders is comprised of 17 alumnae and 10 alumni from 27 business schools in Australia, Canada, France, India, Lebanon, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand and the United States who share her passion and dedication. to lead and innovate within their industries and impact their communities.
