The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated digital transformation as a key component for steering business strategy in the new reality, commented Eduardo Gutiérrez Gómez, President and CEO of IBM México.

“2020 will be remembered as the year that changed the course of business models, significantly boosted e-commerce, and strengthened the position of remote work,” he observed.

In the webinar “The Digital Formula for an Evolving Economy”, Ignacio de la Vega, Dean of EGADE Business School and the Undergraduate Business School at Tecnológico de Monterrey School, concurred that digitalization has become crucial for the survival of organizations in the current environment.

“Just a few months ago, there were still some industries, companies, and leaders who viewed digital transformation as a far-off luxury, as something to start thinking about; COVID-19 has accelerated this process by perhaps half a century,” he said.

Gutiérrez Gómez and De la Vega participated in the EGADE Future Forum series, in a session held as part of the launch of the new Specialization in Digital Strategy
