A starting bell rung in the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) launched the third edition of the “John Hull Award” Derivatives Tournament, organized by RiskMathics, together with MexDer and EGADE Business School - Tecnológico de Monterrey.
Participants in the event, broadcast live on September 15, were Gabriel Yorio, Deputy Finance Minister, Ministry of Finance and Public Credit; Gerardo García, COO, Banco de México; José-Oriol Bosch, CEO, BMV; Allan Barush, CEO, RiskMathics; José Miguel De Dios, CEO, MexDer; and Jaime Martínez Bowness, Director of EGADE Business School, Mexico City site.
This tournament seeks to disseminate a financial culture in Latin America and foster practical knowledge and the expansion of the Derivatives Market in Mexico among students, academics and unsophisticated investors.
“We are celebrating the synergy that is today being concretized and the start of the third edition of the Derivatives Tournament, which we are supporting as allies at EGADE Business School, where we believe that the best way to learn is by practicing and what better way than by putting to the test the knowledge that business schools seek to provide,” Martínez Bowness stated.
The tournament was developed through a platform for trading Futures and Options listed on the Mexican Derivatives Market, with real-time prices and quotes.
Registered participants will trade with the virtual amount of money they are assigned and endeavor to generate the highest portfolio return to win one of the prizes, awarded to the first, second and third places:
· First place (John Hull Award): $10,000 USD
· Second place: $5,000 USD
· Third place: $2,500 USD
Even though the platform is already available for trading, it will be restarted for the official launch of this two-month competition on October 18, 2021.
Further information on registration and rules can be found on the tournament website.
