Héctor Zepeda, Master in Finance student at EGADE Business School and player for the Tec Borregos Monterrey, has been selected to participate in the NFL 2022 International Player Pathway program.
Hailing from Ensenada, Baja California, the 24-year-old was the only Mexican on the list of 13 prospects from nine countries announced on January 11 by the US professional American football league.“La NFL ya está volteando más hacia México. El IPP es esa pequeña llave que puede abrir la entrada hacia la NFL”, dijo Zepeda en entrevista con CONECTA.
“The NFL is setting its sights more and more on Mexico. The IPP is the small key that can open the door to the NFL,” Zepeda commented in an interview with CONECTA.
The International Player Pathway was instituted in 2017 seeking to increase the number of elite international athletes in the NFL.
In this program, the offensive linesman will have the opportunity to train in the United States in February and showcase his athletic prowess to scouts from all the NFL teams in March, with the possibility of being signed as a free agent for next season.
Players attending the IPP this year come from France, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, UK, Nigeria, Latvia, Mexico, and Brazil.
Zepeda won a place in the IPP after participating in the Combine Mexico 2021 organized by the NFL in the Estadio Banorte, the Home of Borregos, in October 2021.
The Borregos player enrolled in the Master in Finance at the EGADE Business School Monterrey site in the September-December 2021 term.
