“Industry 5.0 is an opportunity to integrate smart technology that not only automates processes but also generates value in operations,” affirmed Raúl Montalvo, director of EGADE Business School - Tecnológico de Monterrey, Guadalajara site, during his participation in the Lean Organizations Summit 2024, organized by the Monterrey Competitiveness Center and CAINTRA (Chamber of the Transformation Industry of Nuevo León).

In his keynote, "Digital revolution: innovating and transforming in the Industry 5.0 era," Montalvo explained that Industry 5.0 is not only about technology but also an evolution in which companies need to integrate smart technology to positively impact all their operations.

"We have moved on from talking about technology to talking about smart technology, a technology that can make decisions on its own, generate impact, and add value," he said.

He also emphasized the importance of creating a digital culture within organizations to ensure the effective adoption of technology that will contribute to long-term success.

He commented that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is crucial for Industry 5.0, given its capacity to automate and optimize processes, generating value and agility in organizations.

He explained that AI enables predictive maintenance, analyzing large amounts of data in real-time, and making automated decisions, thus improving operational efficiency.

Montalvo stressed that artificial intelligence must be integrated intelligently to maximize its positive impact and contribute to a sustainable, efficient future.

He also emphasized that companies should invest in research and development and develop strategies that allow them to adapt and collaborate across sectors to maximize the opportunities offered by Industry 5.0.

"It is of prime importance that organizations learn to see technology as an ally instead of a threat and focus their efforts on optimizing processes and personalizing experiences for their customers."

The Lean Organizations Summit, held from October 8 to 10 in Monterrey, brings together senior executives, operational staff, and SMEs to explore trends, challenges, and best practices in implementing innovative solutions that improve productivity.

Other experts from EGADE Business School also participated in the event and shared their knowledge with the attendees.

Juan Enciso, director of the EGADE - W. P. Carey Executive MBA; Abhishek Nayak, director of the Master in Business Analytics; and Gilberto Olavarrieta, Business Intelligence professor, offered the workshop "Data Analytics: Identify strategic information," aimed at large enterprises and focused on the use of advanced analytics tools to make informed decisions and transform data into strategic information that drives business innovation and growth.
