Expansión magazine published, for the fifth year, its 41+1 LGBT+ in Business list, which, in its 2023 version, distinguishes an alumna and two alumni of EGADE Business School - Tecnológico de Monterrey.

The list, compiled in conjunction with ADIL and Love4All, seeks to recognize people in leadership positions in Mexico who, from within and outside their position, help and inspire the LGBT+ population to live freely, visibly and successfully, thereby fostering a true environment of diversity and inclusion.

“[The protagonists of these pages] reflect on how they have aligned their professional and personal paths in companies, and how they pressure them to genuinely get involved in the cause,” the publication says.

The EGADE Alumna and Alumni on the list are:

  • Cecilia Medina (GBS’17)
IT Director for Digital Business Services Americas at British American Tobacco.

Cecilia is a founding member of the group for BAT LGBT+ employees in Mexico, Central America Central, the Caribbean, and Canada, and diversity leader in these same regions. Thanks to her involvement, BAT has become one of the first companies to participate in Pride Connection in Monterrey, and BAT México was the first of the group’s companies to participate openly in a pride parade. She was also the contact with HRC to certify the company as one of the best LGBT-friendly places to work, a certification it has achieved for three years running.

  • Fernando Iglesias (GBS’21)
Contract Manager and Personal Data Protection Officer for Latin America at Carrier

Fernando Iglesias is President of ERG Pride at the global level. He has transformed organizational culture to drive knowledge and the destigmatization of LGBTQ+ people. He has also implemented sexual orientation and gender identity non-discrimination clauses, creating an inclusive environment in the company. His leadership has left a lasting mark on promoting equality and diversity in the workplace.

  • Miguel Ángel Duvergé (MBA’20)
General Talent and Culture Coordinator at Grupo Proeza

Miguel Ángel has constantly sought to promote an inclusive and empowering environment as the first openly gay executive in the 66-year history of Grupo Proeza. In his position, he can now be seen just as he is, without fear and with the firm intention of building a better world for the members of the LGBTQ+ community.

The list was published in the June 2023 issue of Expansión.
