Digitalization and sustainability will set the entrepreneurship course over the next few years. 

In episode 177 of Business Territory, The Future of Entrepreneurship is Digital and Sustainable, led by Eduardo Aguiñaga, national director of Full-Time programs at EGADE Business School, guests Sascha Fürst, research professor from the Department of Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation at EGADE, and Alejandra Ortiz Monasterio, entrepreneur and Marketing director at DILMUN, discussed how these factors are transforming the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

"Digitalization is not an option; it's a necessity," Fürst stated, stressing that access to advanced technologies allows small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to improve their competitiveness and efficiency. 

However, he warned that just digitalizing processes is not enough: "Companies need to integrate sustainability as the core pillar of their strategy to tackle the global challenges of today."

Ortiz Monasterio then shared her experience as an entrepreneur in the sustainable products sector, underscoring the importance of balancing technological innovation and environmental responsibility.

"Today's consumers are looking for brands that share their values, which is reflected in a growing demand for sustainable products, " she commented. 

She added, "Technology allows companies to be more efficient, but sustainability provides relevance and differentiation in the long term."

This episode also addressed the challenges faced by entrepreneurs as agents of change.

"Entrepreneurs need to adapt to digital advancements and lead with a clear purpose that will contribute to social and environmental well-being, " Aguiñaga explained.

Finally, Fürst concluded that "the future of entrepreneurship depends on how a convergence between technology and sustainability is accomplished, since, together, they can generate more resilient, responsible business models."
