With nearly three decades of career, Ángela Gómez Aiza (MA’06) has become a key figure in driving technological transformation, sustainability, and female leadership in Mexico and Latin America.
She currently serves as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Grupo Axo, a multi-channel ecosystem that distributes more than 60 international brands in fashion, footwear, accessories, and personal care products. The initiative was born with the mission of helping companies of all sizes ensure that their sustainability efforts are profitable—and their profitability, sustainable—through technologies such as cloud computing, Big Data, and artificial intelligence.
PURPOSE-DRIVEN LEADERSHIP
Between 2021 and 2024, Ángela became the first woman to lead SAP Mexico. She strengthened the German firm's leadership in the national market during her tenure. She led the digital transformation of thousands of companies, serving over 25 industries with the support of a team of more than a thousand collaborators.
Her career at SAP spanned over 20 years in various leadership roles, including Vice President of Services for Mexico and Central America. She also held executive positions such as Chief Innovation Officer at El Palacio de Hierro and President for Latin America at Safilo Group.
In 2025, Ángela joined Grupo Axo, first as Senior Advisor and later as COO. Since 2024, she has also served as an independent board member for Mendel and Grupo Herdez.
COMMITTED TO EDUCATION, DIVERSITY, AND A TECHNOLOGICAL FUTURE
Ángela holds a Systems Engineering degree from the Tecnológico de Monterrey and a Master in Business Administration from EGADE Business School. In 2023, she became Chair of the Mexican Association of the Information Technology Industry (AMITI). She has also been recognized as one of the “100 Most Powerful Women in Business in Mexico” by Expansión magazine. She has repeatedly appeared on Forbes México’s list of “Most Powerful Women in the Country.”
Ángela actively promotes the participation of girls and young women in STEM fields and equitable access to technology. In an interview with EGADE Icons, she shared: “I studied systems engineering at a time when only 5% of women chose science and technology. Today, we have 30%, but only 17% work in related areas. There’s still a long way to go.”
PLANTING A SEED OF TRANSFORMATION IN EVERY CHALLENGE
Ángela defines her purpose as planting a seed of transformation in every person and company she works with:
“Each of us can leave a small seed of change—whether in a person facing a tough decision or a company that needs to evolve. I want to leave a legacy so that companies in Mexico can sustain their results over time.”
“Today, technology must be an enabler of sustainability. We urgently need to educate and take action on all matters related to ESG and emerging technologies,” she asserts.
As a distinguished EXATEC EGADE, Ángela champions sustainable development, digital transformation, and inclusive leadership, inspiring new leaders to build a more equitable, innovative, and sustainable future.
