Alejandra Rovira (MBM'23) seamlessly blends her passion for basketball with her academic training to leave a lasting mark both on and off the court.
With a career that has taken her from the courts of Tecnológico de Monterrey to the professional team US Catanzaro Centro Basket in Italy, the basketball player has represented Mexico in international competitions and become a symbol of discipline, leadership, and vision.
Alejandra graduated from Tecnológico de Monterrey with a bachelor's in Business Creation and Development and from EGADE Business School with a master's in Business Management (MBM). She highlights how her academic journey at EGADE transformed her perspective and skills.
“EGADE taught me to lead strategically and showed me the importance of building strong connections, learning from others, and sharing knowledge,” said Alejandra.
The experience was transformative for her: “The flexibility and understanding of the institution were fundamental for excelling 100% in both academic and athletic pursuits.”
“What I value most is that, beyond the knowledge I gained, I had the opportunity to connect with people with incredible careers and experiences. Learning from them was incredibly enriching,” added the EXATEC EGADE alumna.
As a university athlete, Alejandra demonstrated her ability to lead on the court. In 2019, she won the championship at the National Universiade, earning the opportunity to represent Mexico in the Pan-American FISU Games in Argentina and the World University Games in China.
Her remarkable performance continued with a gold medal at the 2022 National Universiade and a silver medal at the Ocho Grandes of the ABE League.
These accomplishments paved the way for her successful career with the national 3x3 basketball team, earning gold medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023 and the FISU 3x3 World Championship in Qatar the same year.
“Becoming world champions was not only a personal achievement for us as a team but also solidified the visibility of Mexican basketball on the international stage,” Alejandra emphasized.
In the professional arena, Alejandra has also left her mark. She was part of the Fuerza Regia Femenil team, with whom she won the Women’s National Professional Basketball League (LNBPF) championship in 2024. Later, she became the first Mexican player to compete in Italy’s Serie B Femminile, where she currently plays.
“I’m proud to be the first Mexican in the Italian league. This achievement has allowed me to grow as an athlete and open doors for future generations of Mexican players,” she explained.
Beyond her sports career, Alejandra has demonstrated her entrepreneurial spirit with Cubpic, a personalized merchandise business she founded six years ago.
Regarding her future plans, she commented: “One of my main goals is to create a business that promotes sports, particularly women’s basketball. I want to positively impact the community by fostering the sport's growth and opening new opportunities for women in sports.”
Her focus is not only on personal development but also on inspiring others. “All these achievements reflect my commitment to showcasing Mexican talent on the international stage and promoting sports as a driver of social change,” she stated.
Alejandra’s story serves as a reminder of the power of combining passion, effort, and education to achieve extraordinary goals.
As part of the EXATEC EGADE community, Alejandra inspires new generations to lead on and off the court with purpose.
