EGADE Business School celebrates three decades of innovation and leadership in business education.

In 2025, EGADE Business School at Tecnológico de Monterrey celebrates its 30th anniversary, consolidating its position as the leading business school in Mexico and Latin America.
Although the school's origins date back to 1964, the official beginning of EGADE's history is marked in 1995, when the Escuela de Graduados en Administración y Dirección de Empresas was founded.
Since then, this journey has been characterized by exceptional achievements, global partnerships, advances in sustainability, and a profound commitment to developing leaders capable of transforming the world.
THE EARLY YEARS
In 1964, Tecnológico de Monterrey launched its Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) program, laying the foundation for postgraduate business education in Mexico. By 1973, this academic division had established itself as a formal school, expanding its reach to multiple campuses across the country. During the 1980s, the institution became a pioneer in internationalization, offering programs in collaboration with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Texas at Austin (UTA). In 1990, the Doctorate in Business Administration was introduced, evolving into a program focused on training globally-oriented researchers.
However, the turning point came in the summer of 1995, when the Escuela de Graduados en Administración y Dirección de Empresas (EGADE) was officially created. Under the leadership of its founding dean, Jaime Alonso Gómez Aguirre, the school embarked on a new chapter with its own structure and a vision rooted in excellence and innovation.
EXPANSION AND CONSOLIDATION
From 1995 to 2015, EGADE Business School experienced rapid growth, solidifying its position as a leader in Latin America. In 2001, the iconic building in San Pedro Garza García was inaugurated. Designed by Legorreta Arquitectos, it blends functionality with modern aesthetics across its 32,000 m². In 2010, the FEMSA building at Campus Santa Fe opened, strengthening EGADE's presence in Mexico City.
In 2015, the school expanded further, opening a new site in Guadalajara and introducing a fly-in modality in Querétaro, extending its commitment to business education throughout the region.
In 2011, the Escuela de Graduados en Administración y Dirección de Empresas was renamed EGADE Business School, becoming a recognized brand of Tecnológico de Monterrey. This change enhanced its global positioning, reaffirmed its mission to lead business education and transform the future of business in Mexico and Latin America, and consolidated its national presence by integrating its campuses in Monterrey and Mexico City.
This transformation was supported by the leadership of deans like Robert Grosse (2009-2011), María de Lourdes Dieck Assad (2011-2017), and Juan Pablo Murra (2016), as well as the guidance of the International Advisory Board, established in 2011 to enrich governance and leverage the expertise of prominent business leaders for the school’s global positioning.
During this period, EGADE forged strategic alliances with international institutions, including the Global Consortium OneMBA in 2002, the Dual Master’s Degree in Banking and Finance with Universitat Pompeu Fabra in 2003, and the Dual Degree MBA in Global Business and Strategy with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2004.
International recognition followed with prestigious accreditations: in 1998, from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB); in 2003, from the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS); and in 2008, from the Association of MBAs (AMBA). In 2013, it achieved the Triple Crown, becoming the only multisite business school in Latin America to maintain these accreditations to date.
A MODEL OF LEADERSHIP AND SUSTAINABILITY
EGADE Business School's impact extends beyond classrooms. In 2008, it joined the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability. In 2012, it became a founding member of the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM), led by the Yale School of Management.
The EXATEC EGADE alumni network was established in 2010 and further strengthened when the first EXATEC EGADE Association was created in 2014. In 2019, the National EXATEC EGADE Association was formed, and in 2022, the first international chapter was launched in Lima, Peru.
INNOVATION AMID GLOBAL CHALLENGES
The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 showcased EGADE Business School's ability to innovate. Under Dean Ignacio de la Vega's leadership, the Flexible Digital Model (FDM) was implemented, ensuring continuity in education. That same year, the school published the Decalogue for Mexico’s Economic and Business Reconstruction, reinforcing its commitment to the country’s development.
In 2022, with Horacio Arredondo as dean, the school defined its strategic direction for 2030. Its purpose is to “rethink the future of business to impact the sustainable development of Latin America,” aiming to transform EGADE into an ecosystem that challenges the status quo and drives societal transformation.
