The first place of the Doctoral Research Pitch, a panel on transdisciplinary research, and the presentation of impact projects formed the framework for EGADE Business School’s participation in the 52nd Research and Development Congress (CID) of Tecnológico de Monterrey.

In this hybrid edition, held from March 2 to 4, the CID brought together Tec faculty and students who presented the institution’s research projects.

CLAUDIA GÓMEZ, FIRST PLACE DOCTORAL RESEARCH PITCH

EGADE Business School’s Ph.D. in Administrative Sciences (DCA) student, Claudia Lizzette Gómez Borquez, won first place in the Doctoral Research Pitch, in which students from the different Tec schools presented their doctoral research theses.

In a competition format and before a jury comprised of the institution’s lecturers, participants communicated the significance of their projects in three-minute pitches.

Gómez Borquez presented her work “Empowering Women Through Femvertising: Consumers’ Perceptions, Attitudes and Purchase Intention,” which analyzes the representation of women and their stereotypes in advertising, and provides evidence to incorporate feminist ideals and women’s empowerment in the same.

With her first place, Gómez Borquez won the opportunity to represent Tec at the Universitas 21 Three Minute Thesis Competition.

Another DCA student, Regina Gabriela Díaz Crespo, also participated in the Doctoral Research Pitch, presenting her project Transformación digital: desde los grandes proveedores a las tienditas de la esquina” (Digital Transformation: From Major Suppliers to Corner Shops).

Corporations Must Improve Sustainability Practices – Global Survey of Business Students

Submitted by jose.paz on Wed, 03/02/2022 - 08:28
Global Network Survey

Findings disclosed of the Global Network for Advanced Management survey, in which EGADE Business School students participated.

By COMUNICACIÓN INSTITUCIONAL | EGADE BUSINESS SCHOOL

A survey of more than 2,000 students from business schools that form part of the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM), including EGADE Business School - Tecnológico de Monterrey, revealed that business students are increasingly concerned about the climate crisis and want sustainability to be more integrated into their education and their professional lives.

The report Rising Leaders on Social and Environmental Sustainability: A Global Survey of Business Students, led by the Yale Center for Business and the Environment in collaboration with the GNAM network, unveiled four basic findings:

1. Business students believe that corporate leaders should be solving environmental and social issues. They also perceive global warming as more of an economic/business problem (76%), than a health (66%) or moral (53%) one.

2. New business leaders hope that sustainability will be transversally incorporated into corporate strategy. Nearly three-quarters of participants consider that companies should play a leading role by addressing these matters, at the same level as government agencies.

3. Business schools are integrating more courses on sustainability. Moreover, at the same time, students expect more of their programs: 62% of respondents would like the university career services to focus more on sustainable jobs.

4. The majority of business students (51%) claim that they would accept a lower salary if it meant working with an employer who is committed to sustainability. So, companies with poor sustainability practices ought to consider their brand reputation in the face of this reality.

With this in mind, the report concludes that corporations must improve their sustainability practices if they wish to address the multiple global issues and position their organizations as valuable employers that young people aspire to join.

Meanwhile, business schools continue to adopt experiential learning opportunities in their academic proposal, positioning students as agents of positive change.

“EGADE Business School’s vision is based on the preparation of leaders who are capable of anticipating change and contributing to the development of our communities. As such, business transformation is inevitable and demands a paradigm shift around leadership, inspiring innovative executives to design and implement disruptive, sustainable business models,” said Osmar Zavaleta, Interim Dean of EGADE Business School.

Most of the students who participated in the survey are from MBA programs (64%) at 29 business schools on five, and are 26 to 30 years (42%).

EGADE Business School is a founding member of the Global Network for Advanced Management, a network of 32 leading business schools in diverse regions, countries, cultures, and economies in different stages of development, committed to contributing through business education with solutions for the principal global challenges that are so complex.

Master in Business Management Online (MBM)

EGADE Business School's MBM Online is the first degree from Mexico to be offered on Coursera and is designed to help recent graduates differentiate themselves in a competitive job market and accelerate their career.

By INSTITUTIONAL COMMUNICATION | EGADE BUSINESS SCHOOL

To broaden the horizons of all those recent university graduates and young professionals who seek to empower their professional career with a competitive advantage from the start, regardless of their basic academic background or geographic location, EGADE Business School of the Tecnológico de Monterrey has launched the Master in Business Management (MBM) Online in collaboration with Coursera, one of the largest online learning platforms in the world.

The MBM Online is a program in Spanish whose flexible and part-time format allows young professionals in Mexico greater autonomy by transcending face-to-face barriers and enabling students to maintain a job position while applying practical knowledge on the spot. Thus, the new MBM Online becomes the most agile way to revolutionize the beginning of their professional careers.

“The increasing automation of production processes and the current global disruption have accelerated the digital transformation of businesses, with which the relevance of skills in business development and management has also increased. With this in mind, MBM Online is designed to equip new professionals with fundamental business training, with an emphasis on real-world skills that prepare them to generate business strategies with a positive impact in the business sector,” said Eduardo Aguiñaga, National Director of Full-Time Programs at EGADE Business School.

The MBM Online curriculum has a disruptive approach based on a mixed academic model in which real-time sessions, interaction and collaboration through immersive online platforms and multiple other teaching strategies, such as specialized workshops and business simulators are part of it. Furthermore, with challenge-based learning and the analysis of real case studies, the program promotes contextualized knowledge for immediate application.

“It is an honor to partner with EGADE Business School of Tecnológico de Monterrey to help recent graduates develop the critical skills needed to succeed in the digital economy,” said Betty Vandenbosch, Chief Content Officer at Coursera. “This new degree will enable young Spanish-speaking professionals across Latin America and around the world to learn high-demand business and technology skills, and unlock greater economic opportunities for themselves, their companies, and their communities.”

This innovative postgraduate course offers the value of an international master's degree without the need to cross borders. In an increasingly interconnected world, where diversity of thought, ideas and experiences is essential, learning new skills together with colleagues from different countries improves the understanding of global business, while developing capacities for intercultural dialogue and collaboration. In addition to the above, recent graduates and young professionals who take MBM Online will be able to expand their network of contacts by accessing the EGADE Business School community, which has more than 20,000 executives, business leaders and entrepreneurs.

Likewise, this program will allow participants to maximize their potential and expand their job opportunities, with the support of the academic excellence of EGADE Business School and a faculty internationally recognized for its transformation leadership and proven quality not only in the classroom, but also within their competing industries.

Registration is now open and the first generation of the program will begin its courses in September 2022.
