Jorge Ramos Mercado's research focuses on dynamic information economics. He was a research associate at the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College from 2014 to 2017 and a research assistant at the Center for Opportunity and Inclusive Growth at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis from 2019 to 2021. He has worked with multiple researchers on projects ranging from industrial organization and the implications of government programs on well-being. Within his teaching experience, he was an instructor of Industrial Organization and Cost-Benefit Analysis for undergraduate students at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Tauhidul Tanin is a Professor of Finance at EGADE Business School, Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico. He holds a PhD in Finance from Monash University, Australia, and has over 12 years of experience in academia and industry, including roles as a Finance Manager and Research Analyst. His commitment to high-quality research is demonstrated through collaborations with professors from leading universities worldwide. His work has been published in top-tier journals, such as Energy Economics, The British Accounting Review, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, International Review of Financial Analysis, Finance Research Letters, Journal of Cleaner Production, Sustainable Development, Research in International Business and Finance, and International Journal of Emerging Markets. His current research pipeline includes papers under revision and under review, and several working papers targeting leading journals.

Dr. Tanin consistently strives for teaching excellence, as evidenced by his PhD Corporate Finance course score of 9.83/10 in Spring 2024 and his MBA Analytical Foundations for Business (Finance) course score of 8.61/10 in Fall 2023. He achieved High Distinction marks in his PhD coursework, MSc, MBA, and BBA, and received numerous merit-based awards and scholarships, including the Monash Research Merit Scholarship for his PhD and the INCEIF University Full/President's Scholarship for his MSc. His academic excellence also earned him nominations for the Mollie Holman Award (Best Doctoral Researcher) and Vice-Chancellor's Commendation for Thesis Excellence at Monash. His research interests include corporate finance, sustainable finance, climate finance, energy finance, behavioral finance, international finance, investments, financial markets, FinTech, financial analytics, asset pricing, and financial economics.

Dr. Tanin serves as a peer reviewer for 12 leading academic journals as well as for the Strategic Management Latin America 2024 Conference. He is the invited and sole Node Leader for Mexico in the InSPiR2eS Center for Responsible Science (IC4RS), which consists of 74 Node Leaders globally, including only four in North and South America. He serves as an invited Doctoral Thesis Evaluation Panel Member for a PhD candidate in Business Economics at Universidad ICESI in Colombia and as a Foreign Reviewer for PhD theses in Management Sciences (Finance) at the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences in Pakistan. Additionally, he mentors three individuals: a post-doctoral fellow working on Corporate Governance, Climate Finance, and Sustainability; a PhD candidate in the academic job market, advising on job search and application strategies; and a potential PhD candidate on admissions, scholarships, and career guidance.

Jorge Arturo Martínez

Jorge Martinez’s expertise and teaching are focused around fields including financial engineering, byproducts, financial economy, and international economy. Over the course of his career, he has been a speaker at more than 300 seminars in South America, Mexico, the United States, and Europe. He is the author of more than 30 academic publications in international journals and a series of working papers. He is also an editor of El Norte writing the monthly column “Riesgo y Valor” (Risk and Value).

In the corporate field, Dr. Martínez serves as an independent advisor of Banco del Bajio and Afore Afirme Bajio. Previously, he served as Director of Integral Risk Management, Legal and Quality in Banorte-Generali, Financial Group Banorte, and also as head economist in Cemex Latam. Dr. Martínez is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and President of the CFA Monterrey chapter. 

He has distinguished himself at an international level in the academic field as instructor in the New York Institute of Finance, the Chilean Adolfo Ibañez University in Miami and as guest professor at Baylor University, University of Texas at Austin (USA), École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (France), Universidad EAFIT in Madrid and Colombia. He has been invited several times to take part in the CNN Money Miami and New York tv program. 

Jorge is partner and founder of the advisory company MG-RISK Counseling Associates since 1998, providing services to more than 40 companies in Mexico and abroad around the themes of investment banking, statistical studies, economy, and finance.

Jorge Enrique Velarde

Dr. Velarde is a Research Professor at the Department of Finance and Business Economics at EGADE Business School. His fields of teaching and research include macroeconomics and microeconomics, corporate finance, bond markets, and capital markets. He has published on various economic and financial themes, including various papers on the valuation of public companies listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange and case studies at a national and international level, including “México:¿Se hubiera podido prevenir la crisis de 1994?” and “Selling? That is easy".

In the corporate world, he has worked as an analyst at Vector Casa de Bolsa and as Deputy Director of Economic and Financial Studies at GBM Grupo Bursátil Mexicano. In the public sector, at the federal level, he was a member of the group of economic advisors of the Ministry of Economy. He has also been an economic and financial advisor to private companies and has participated as a mentor and consultant in company incubators and accelerators.

Dr. Velarde also belongs to several academic and professional associations, including the American Academy of Financial Management, the Association of Economists of Nuevo Leon, and the Mexican Institute of Finance Executives.

Dr. Velarde was Director of Academic Programs and Director of the Department of Finance and Business Economics of EGADE Business School, Director of the Enlace E+E: Emprendedores de Alto Valor program, as well as Director of the Business Park: Innovation for the Corporate Services at the Santa Fe Campus and Director of the Center of Business and Financial Consulting and Research on the Guadalajara Campus.

Eduardo Saucedo

Dr. Saucedo has been a researcher at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas (2009-2011) and has worked as Alternate Director in the Automotive Industry in the Sub Secretariat of Industry and Commerce (2001-2004) in the Secretariat of Economy of the Federal Government. He has also been a financial analyst in General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC).

Currently, he is a member of the SNI, (Sistema Nacional de Investigadores), Conacyt  as well as the American Economic Hispanic Association, and the Western Social Science Association.

In addition to his teaching activities at EGADE Business School, he has served as professor in the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (2012-2016), in New Mexico State University (2009-2011), as well as at the University of Houston and University of Cincinnati.

Teófilo Ozuna

Professor Ozuna has been distinguished by his leadership of academic groups in strategic research projects. He has managed several institutional research funds,  both public and private, of organizations such as The Inter-American Development Bank, Texas A&M University, the Department of Agriculture of the United States, the Texas Water Development Board, The Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade, the Department of Commerce of the United States, and the National Water Commission of Mexico, amongst others.

He has developed his teaching and research interest in the areas of economics and finance, where he has served for more than two decades as professor and researcher at Texas A&M University, The University of Texas-Pan American, and various universities in Mexico and Central America, and currently at Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Throughout his academic career, he has received several awards and honors, such as an outstanding professor in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers (2004 and 2005) and receiving the Best Paper Award in 2005 IBER (Business) & TLC (Teaching) Conference, Las Vegas (USA). He was distinguished professor of the University of Salamanca (Spain) in 2001 and has received several awards as outstanding professor in UPTA (2003-2004) and Texas A&M University (1991-1992).

He was Associate Dean of Research at EGADE Business School and has served as Dean of the College of Business Administration at The University of Texas-Pan American (USA).

René Cabral

Dr. René Cabral is a Research Professor at the Department of Finance and Business Economics at EGADE Business School and Leader of the Thematic Area Research Group (GAT) in Financial Innovation.

The research work of Professor Cabral Torres is directed towards the study of public finance, monetary policy, and the interaction of labout markets, as well as the manner in which these three areas affect the economic development of regions and countries.

His most recent research works have been published in journals such as the European Journal of Political Economy, Contemporary Economic Policy, International Journal of Educational Development, Annals of Regional Science and Journal of Policy Modelling, among others. He is also assistant editor in the Mexican Journal of Economics and Finance (REMEF) IMEF and a member of the editorial committee of the journal Economic Research. Mr. Cabral is a member of the SNI (Sistema Nacional de Investigadores), Level II.

He has also been a consultant for the World Bank and has participated in consulting projects for companies such as Minera Autlan and Axtel, institutions such as the Consulate of Canada and Metropolitan Water Fund of Monterrey, as well as for the state governments of Aguascalientes, Tabasco, Chiapas and Nuevo León.
