Boyd Cohen

Since obtaining his Ph.D. in strategy and entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado in 2001, Boyd Cohen focused on accelerating the path to a low-carbon sustainable economy for the past two decades. This included publishing three books (Post-Capitalist Entrepreneurship: Startups for the 99%, The Emergence of the Urban Entrepreneur, and Climate Capitalism: Capitalism in the Age of Climate Change), multiple peer-reviewed articles, and starting a handful of ventures in the smart cities and sustainability arena. Boyd’s writings and thought leadership have been published in Fast Company, CoinDesk, and numerous smart cities publications. At the same time, the Smart Cities Wheel has been leveraged by governments around the globe to benchmark, rank, and strategize their path to a net zero future. His previous academic posts have been at IE (Spain), University of Victoria and Simon Fraser University (Canada), INCAE (Costa Rica), Universidad del Desarrollo (Chile), and EADA Business School (Spain), where he was Dean of Research. Boyd holds an International Fellow from Hult International Business School in the Future’s Impact Lab. He is finishing his fourth book (Abundance Capitalism), and is on the Board of Iomob, a Web2 and Web3 software startup he cofounded in smart mobility.

Jairo Orozco Triana

Dr. Jairo Orozco is a professor in the Department of Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation at EGADE Business School - Tecnológico de Monterrey. He has left a significant mark on the academic and business community with more than 15 years of experience training and motivating people in their decision to start a business and providing his experience in corporate entrepreneurship, innovation, business model redesign, and strategy. He has been a consultant to public and private companies, including the Inter-American Development Bank. He has held various liaison, academic, and research roles at institutions such as the University of Cartagena and the Ean University in Colombia, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in Spain, and the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. His research focuses on the determinants of corporate entrepreneurship in developing countries, and his contributions have been published in renowned academic journals, such as the Journal of Small Business Management. He has participated as a speaker at renowned international conferences, such as RENT, ACEDE, CLADEA, and ICSB, sharing his experience and knowledge with the academic community.

Sascha Fürst

Dr. Sascha Fürst is a Research Professor of Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation at EGADE Business School and Leader of the Thematic Area Research Group (GAT) in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Dr. Sascha is affiliated with the Turku School of Economics at the University of Turku in Finland as a research fellow in international entrepreneurship. He is also visiting professor at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen in Germany where he teaches business in the Latin American context.

Dr. Fuerts earned a PhD with distinction in International Business from the University of Turku and holds a Master of Science in Business and Engineering from the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern in Germany.

His research interests are focused on the junction between entrepreneurship, strategy, and international business.

Cristian Granados Sánchez

Dr. Cristian Granados is a research professor and consultant in the Innovation Department of EGADE. He holds a master's degree, doctorate, and post-doctorate from the University of Barcelona and the University of Cambridge. He was a research fellow at HEC Montreal and did a research stay at Harvard Business School. He actively works with entrepreneurs to develop their innovation capacity. He has worked with various companies such as Renault, Pfizer, Roche, Kraft-Heinz, Mabe, Hubbell, and Grupo Salinas in consulting and education. In addition, he is the academic director of the executive innovation program Tec Beyond and co-founder of the EGADE Innovation Community, which brings together 50 innovation leaders in Mexico. He has held positions as innovation director, co-founder of a video game startup, and Coparmex Innovation Commission president. In his research work, he focuses on analyzing factors of success and failure of innovation, and his studies have been published in British and American journals. He writes for Forbes, MIT Review, and Stanford Innovation Review in his dissemination work. He co-authors the book Do More with Less: 6 Principles of Frugal Innovation (Planeta).

Pedro Carreón

Pedro is passionate about higher business education, with a career of more than 25 years in public, private and non-profit institutions. This experience has given him a unique understanding of business and a comprehensive perspective of the world in which they operate, making it easier for leaders and organizations to thrive in their business ecosystem. At the beginning of his professional life, Pedro collaborated in the promotion of investment projects of foreign companies in our country. Through the Tecnológico de Monterrey, he has participated as a consultant in the Institute of Family Businesses, the Eugenio Garza Lagüera Entrepreneurship Institute, the Award for the Best Mexican Companies awarded jointly with Deloitte and Citibanamex, and Executive Education at EGADE Business School. His teaching and research activities focus on innovative entrepreneurship. His most recent publications address the creation of new companies and the growth aspirations of Mexican entrepreneurs, mainly based on data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) project. Likewise, he actively participates in different national and international forums that promote the entrepreneurial mentality. He is currently a member of the Academic Senate of Tecnológico de Monterrey and Chapter Advisor of Beta Gamma Sigma.

Alfonso Ávila Robinson

Dr. Ávila Robinson’s career has brought him to world-class research institutions in Germany and Japan, such as the Fraunhofer Institute, RWTH Aachen, Tokyo Tech, and Kyoto University. Through these experiences, he has been able to amalgamate research in Innovation and Technology Management with several emerging technologies, including micro-/nanotechnologies, regenerative medicine, stem cells and cancer immunotherapies. 

He has developed a unique expertise in data science, network approaches and the management of technological innovation, including technology intelligence and forecasting, management of emerging technologies, interdisciplinary/convergent R&D, innovation in high-tech industries, and open innovation in life sciences/biotechnology companies. 

Dr. Ávila Robinson is also passionate about the study of the translation of convergent life science discoveries into revolutionary ventures which cure diseases. In this regard, he has accumulated practical experience in the regenerative medicine ecosystem in Japan.

Professor Ávila-Robinson’s research has been published in several top-tier journals in the field of technology and innovation management, such as Technovation, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and Scientometrics. He is also an ad hoc reviewer for some leading journals in this field.

Fernando Moya

Dr. Moya Dávila is an expert in entrepreneurship, innovation, venture capital, finance, investment project valuation, obtaining bank and risk financing, and start-up valuation. He has 25 years’ experience in academia and consulting, the development and implementation of financial strategies for funding high impact and rapid growth start-ups, and building strategic alliances with community and various organizations at a global level. He has also worked with companies as an advisor, as well as in the incorporation of its corporate governance bodies and capital budget policies.

As an entrepreneur, he has created three development centers: a business center featuring an incubator, an accelerator, an investor’s club and company landing; a logistics center offering research services to the ports of Tampico and Altamira; and a plastics center which offers the petrochemical industry, plastic resins research. He also founded the company Productos FB, dedicated to the production and marketing of organic coffee.

At Tecnológico de Monterrey he has held the positions of Program Director, Career Director, Director of Department and Director of international programs at the Tampico campus.

Félix Cárdenas

Félix Cárdenas is a Professor in the Department of Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation at EGADE Business School of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he was Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He has also been a researcher and affiliate professor at Harvard University, the University of Columbia, IESE, and the University of Texas at Austin. 

He is a co-author of books such as “Comprar un Empresa Exitosa? El Search Fund como Modelo de Emprendimiento, y Open Innovation: Academic and Practical Perspectives on the Journey from Idea to Market, Oxford University Press. His research work has been presented at international congresses in San Francisco, Boston, Nueva York (USA), Geneva, Zurich (Switzerland), Istanbul (Turkey), and Nice (France).

He develops corporate venture capital strategies with corporates, impacting growth and profitability. He has been an advisor and has conducted research for companies such as Cisco, Nokia, Alcan, Logitech, General Electric, Cemex, FEMSA, Credit Suisse, Proeza, Heineken, and Nestle. 

Professor Cárdenas is a partner of the fund InnovaCamp Ventures. He was a partner at Vento Capital and director of greenTEK ventures in Switzerland. His research interests include private capital, entrepreneurial capital, innovation ecosystems, competitive strategy, innovation management, corporate entrepreneurship, value creation, and technology transfer.
