Ricardo Buitrago

Dr. Ricardo E. Buitrago R. is a Research Professor in Strategy and International Management at EGADE Business School of Tecnológico de Monterrey. Furthermore, Dr. Buitrago is affiliated with the School of Management at Universidad del Rosario in Colombia as an associate researcher.

Before joining EGADE Business School, Dr. Buitrago served as Program Head and Dean in Universities in Colombia. In addition, he has been a visiting professor in different universities in Latin America.

He is a member of the Business Association for Latin American Studies (BALAS) Executive Committee. He is also a member of the Academy of International Business (AIB) and the Latin American Studies Association (LASA). He is also the ambassador for the Andean region of the IE-Scholars network.

His research interests are focused on the junction between international political economy, institutions, strategy, and international business. He has served as editor and reviewer for the Journal of Business Research, International Business Review, European Management Journal, and International Studies of Management & Organization, among others.

Before joining academia, Dr. Buitrago worked in banking and served as a consultant for various financial institutions in Colombia and Puerto Rico. He also worked as Project and Marketing Manager for multiple firms in Colombia.

Juan Carlos Rivera

During his over 22 years’ academic and professional experience, Dr. Juan Carlos Rivera has focused on international business, global strategy, strategic negotiation, global innovation, international education, international economic policy, and global marketing, as well as extensive specialized practice in more than 55 countries on every continent of the world.

He acquired his considerable international skills throughout his career at PepsiCo, Bancomext, PEMEX International, the National Association of Universities, Tecnológico de Monterrey, and CENEVAL. Such opportunities have taken him to countries, cities, companies, and universities around the world, where he has played key roles as team leader, project manager, strategy developer, principal advisor, diplomatic representative, keynote speaker, manager, senior consultant, and CEO.

He has collaborated with multiple corporations, including the Institute of International Education, United Nations, World Bank, OECD, FedEx, Unilever, P&G, BMW, Lenovo, Bimbo, Grupo Carso, Roche, Huawei, Alsea, Bosch, Liomont, Renault, E&Y, Deloitte, KPMG, Adidas, LG and CEMEX, Bayer, and Ternium, among others.

Dr. Rivera is a professor of Strategy, Leadership, and Global Business for EGADE Business School, and an Executive Education consultant. In his career as an educator, he has served as a professor at the Mexico City, Toluca, and Monterrey campuses of Tecnológico de Monterrey. In addition, he has lectured at the Sorbonne (Université de Paris) in France, the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in China, the University of Auckland in New Zealand, the University of Edinburgh in the UK, the University of Minas Gerais in Brazil, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia, Yale, Harvard, Boston College, Babson College and the University of Texas at Austin in the United States, the University of Cape Town in South Africa, and institutions in every state of Mexico.

Sascha Fürst

Dr. Sascha Fürst is a Research Professor of Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation at EGADE Business School and Leader of the Thematic Area Research Group (GAT) in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Dr. Sascha is affiliated with the Turku School of Economics at the University of Turku in Finland as a research fellow in international entrepreneurship. He is also visiting professor at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen in Germany where he teaches business in the Latin American context.

Dr. Fuerts earned a PhD with distinction in International Business from the University of Turku and holds a Master of Science in Business and Engineering from the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern in Germany.

His research interests are focused on the junction between entrepreneurship, strategy, and international business.

Ignacio de la Vega

Ignacio de la Vega is Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, Faculty and Internationalization of Tecnológico de Monterrey since February 1, 2021. The previous three and a half years, Ignacio served as Dean of EGADE Business School and the Graduate Business School at Tecnológico de Monterrey. He has a proven track record as an entrepreneurial leader in academic, financial, and government sectors. Prior to joining EGADE, he served as CEO of Global Babson, an organization that integrates the Global Centers of Entrepreneurial Leadership at Babson College, where he developed innovative programs and collaborative research initiatives with a focus on entrepreneurship.

He participated in the setting up of the Prince Mohammad Bin Salaman College (MSBC), in Saudi Arabia along with Babson College, Emaar Group, Lockheed Martin, and the Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman. Prior to this, Dean de la Vega was Chief Learning Officer of BBVA worldwide, where he collaborated directly with the Chairman, the CEO and the Group Executive Committee in the transformation of the corporate training model.

He was also President of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), which studies trends in entrepreneurship in the world, and brings together more than 450 researchers and collaborators in 90 countries.

For twenty years, Dean de la Vega worked as a teacher, researcher, and Director at IE Business School where he led the International Center for Entrepreneurship and the Development of Business Initiatives. In recent years, he has also been an active entrepreneur and investor in several start-ups and SMEs.

Juan Antonio Enciso

Dr. Enciso González is an expert in institutional analysis and its impact on business, topics on which he has published a range of academic articles. He has also lectured on various economic and institutional themes, based on his academic background in the fields of international business and the global economy.

He has worked in the public sector at the Ministry of Commerce and Industrial Development (now the Ministry of Economy) and the private sector in companies such as Nortel Networks, Tyco Electronics, Elcoteq, and Global Trends de México.

At EGADE Business School he has been Director of the EGADE MBA in Monterrey. He has also directed various cooperation projects of the school in international consortia of the European Union, including the PILA, EQUALITY, SUMA, UNIQUE, LA IPR HD, and MUSE projects, and is a member of the board of various organizations. Likewise, he is the Chapter Advisor of the EGADE Business School Chapter of the Beta Gama Sigma honor society.
