Alfonso Ávila Robinson

Dr. Ávila Robinson’s career has brought him to world-class research institutions in Germany and Japan, such as the Fraunhofer Institute, RWTH Aachen, Tokyo Tech, and Kyoto University. Through these experiences, he has been able to amalgamate research in Innovation and Technology Management with several emerging technologies, including micro-/nanotechnologies, regenerative medicine, stem cells and cancer immunotherapies. 

He has developed a unique expertise in data science, network approaches and the management of technological innovation, including technology intelligence and forecasting, management of emerging technologies, interdisciplinary/convergent R&D, innovation in high-tech industries, and open innovation in life sciences/biotechnology companies. 

Dr. Ávila Robinson is also passionate about the study of the translation of convergent life science discoveries into revolutionary ventures which cure diseases. In this regard, he has accumulated practical experience in the regenerative medicine ecosystem in Japan.

Professor Ávila-Robinson’s research has been published in several top-tier journals in the field of technology and innovation management, such as Technovation, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and Scientometrics. He is also an ad hoc reviewer for some leading journals in this field.

Carlos Scheel

Carlos Scheel has been a professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey since 1973. As an expert in innovation, technology and sustainability strategies, Dr. Scheel’s research and teaching focuses on the areas of complex systems dynamics, technological innovation, innovation clusters strategies, the creation of unusual business models, technology-based entrepreneurship, distributed systems and information technology, concepts on which he has delivered short courses and specialized seminars in more than 30 institutions in 16 countries.

Since 2007, he has designed and validated the SWIT model (Sustainable Wealth creation based on Innovation and Technology) in several countries in order to create sustainable regional wealth at three empowering levels: Zero-value Residues Industrial Ecology Systems (ZRIES); Circular Value Ecosystems (CVES); the creation of regional sharing value systems (SVS) and the development of conditions and infrastructure for Innovacities.

Throughout his career, Dr. Scheel has been a consultant in international technical co-operation for a number of governments. He has participated in more than 20 international projects for the development of strategies, systems and policies for the implementation of industrial clusters; as well as science and technology innovation programs related to regional innovation systems, including, transfer, technological co-operation and technology-based entrepreneurship. These projects have been sponsored by bodies such as BID, UNIDO, USAID, the World Bank, PNUD, UNEP, EU Framework Programs and domestic governments.

Professor Scheel is a member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores, SNI (National System of Researchers), Level 1 since 2007, and since 1989 he is a senior researcher at the Innovation, Creativity and Capital Institute (IC2) of the University of Texas, Austin (USA). Previously, he served as Director of the Postgraduate School of Information Technologies, Electronics, and Telecommunications of the Tecnológico de Monterrey (1985-2001).

Rajagopal

The broad teaching and research career of Professor Rajagopal has developed in the fields of marketing strategy, consumer behavior, technology and innovation management, international business management, service marketing, management of new products and brand management. His academic excellence has been acknowledged by the Government of Mexico for the premier executive program in innovation, technology, and competitivity, as well as for his top-level research.

He is a member of multiple international research associations, such as the Royal Society for Encouragement of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce (United Kingdom), the Chartered Management Institute, Institute of Operations Management, Academy of Marketing Science, Association of Consumer Research, the Latin American Chapter of the Business and Economics Society International, Marketing Science Institute, (USA), and the Indian Society of Agricultural Economics (India). He is also a member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI), Level III, Conacyt.

Professor Rajagopal has been part of the editorial board or the management of several journals such as Emerald Emerging Marketing Case Studies, International Journal of Leisure and Tourism Marketing, International Journal of Business Competition and Growth, International Journal of the Built Environment and Asset Management, Indore Management Journal, Journal of Marketing Analytics, Innovative Marketing, Journal of Tourism, and the Journal of Corporate Responsibility and Leadership.

In addition to his teaching activities at EGADE Business School, Professor Rajagopal serves as a professor at Metropolitan College of the University of Boston (USA). He has also been a professor in several Indian institutions such as the College of India and the National Institute of Agricultural Marketing, where he served as the Academic Director, the Institute of Rural Management, and the National Institute of Rural Development, where he was Assistant Director. Additionally, he taught courses and programs at the Indian Institute of Management, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Vigyana Jyoti Institute of Management, Institute of Public Enterprise and the International Management Institute.
