Over 300 graduates from EGADE Business School at Tecnológico de Monterrey connected on June 24 to participate and strengthen community ties at the 2021 EGADE Annual Alumni Reunion, which took place this year online.

The third edition of this event brought together EGADE alumni from around the world, and served as the framework for recognizing the winners of the 2020 and 2021 EGADE Alumni Achievement Awards.

Osmar Zavaleta, Interim Dean of EGADE Business School welcomed the participants.

“The goal is to provide you with an enriching, energizing meeting space, that will inspire you to continue to promote, from your organizations and businesses, the spirit of leadership with a humanistic outlook and positive impact that each and every one of us shares at EGADE Business School,” Zavaleta stated in his opening message.

The meeting included a panel with the award-winning alumni, a conference on conscious leadership, a dynamic on the game platform Kahoot, and a music and wine tasting experience with Roberto Dumois.

ALUMNI RECEIVE THEIR AWARDS

Joaquín Lozano Aguirre, National Director of Alumni Relations at Tecnológico de Monterrey, led the prize giving for the EGADE Alumni Achievement Award for the current and previous years.

In 2021, the winner is Leticia Murray, Global Oncology Marketing Director at AstraZeneca and graduate from EGADE MBA and the Master in Marketing, EGADE Business School.

The 2020 winner is Jorge Luis Torres, Vice-President of Operations in Mexico at one of the largest logistics firms in the world, ex-president of the American Chamber of Commerce Mexico, and OneMBA graduate, EGADE Business School.

After receiving their awards, both alumni participated in a panel moderated by María Livas, Director of Student and Alumni Relations at EGADE Business School.

REFLECTING ON CONSCIOUS LEADERSHIP

In a conference, Arturo Zapata Guizar, Executive President of Corporación Zapata and member of the board of directors of Tecnológico de Monterrey, shared with the alumni his reflections on conscious leadership.

The entrepreneur also invited the alumni to follow the proposals for action of Empresas por el Bienestar (Enterprise for Well-being), an initiative of a broad, representative group of one-hundred Mexican companies.

One of them, he explained, specifies that all the collaborators in the companies that form part of the initiative should have an income of at least $6,500 pesos, plus benefits, with the total income reported to IMSS (Mexican Social Security Institute).

“The objective is to achieve a country in which everyone who has a full-time job in Mexico’s Private Initiative has access, over time, to a decent standard of living, in other words, forming part of the middle class,” he said.

During his presentation, Zapata Guizar was accompanied by Ignacio de la Vega, Executive Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Faculty and Internationalization at Tecnológico de Monterrey.

This edition of the Annual EGADE Alumni Reunion also had a philanthropic purpose, since participants were able to make donations to the healthcare cause Unidos Podemos: Salud ante el Covid-19.
