The rapid advancement of new technologies demands that both companies and workers adapt by developing and strengthening their skills at both the personal and organizational levels.

In episode 207 of Territorio Negocios, Ricardo Murcio, professor in the Department of Strategy and Leadership at EGADE Business School at Tecnológico de Monterrey, spoke on this topic with Eva Guerra, Academic Associate Dean of EGADE Business School and podcast co-host.

Guerra shared statistics from the International Monetary Fund: “By 2023, around 92 million jobs will be lost, but 170 million new positions will also be created in areas we don’t yet know.”

Murcio stated that uncertainty is the main characteristic regarding the advancement of artificial intelligence, as it impacts productivity, flexibility, and automation within companies.

“What we can foresee is that all repetitive tasks are most likely to disappear. Everything that can be standardized through artificial intelligence and process automation will be carried out,” he said.

On a personal level, he emphasized the need to acquire skills such as data analysis to interpret the information and statistics generated by machines, resilience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to connect with others—all of which must be managed strategically to achieve objectives.

Regarding companies, Murcio pointed out areas to strengthen: “Organizations need to start becoming stronger in everything related to training in technology, artificial intelligence, automation, robotics, process standardization, data analysis, and context analysis.”

Guerra concluded the episode by reminding listeners that artificial intelligence is part of a more automated world and called for preparation by learning about new technologies and strengthening human skills.
