Biodiversity protection is a crucial pillar for the sustainable growth of businesses.
In episode 178 of Business Territory, " Biodiversity Protection: Good for the Planet and Business," led by Eduardo Aguiñaga, national director of Full-Time programs at EGADE Business School, guests Luli Pesqueira, professor in the EGADE executive program Climate Governance for Board Members and Executives, and Fernanda Prendes, Marketing director at Up Sí Vale México, analyzed the importance of biodiversity in business contexts.
Pesqueira stressed that companies should recognize that their success is linked to ecosystem health, underscoring that biodiversity is a critical foundation for innovation and competitiveness.
Prendes complemented this vision, indicating that sustainability is no longer a compliment but a consumer expectation and that aligning with the COP16 goals will open up new market opportunities.
They both agreed that business innovation is critical to biodiversity protection. Prendes commented that companies that innovate in their processes are better positioned to contribute to conservation and achieve market differentiation.
Pesqueira added that the challenge lies in the fact that companies need to comply with regulations and integrate a sustainable approach as a crucial part of their long-term survival.
Finally, Aguiñaga concluded that biodiversity protection benefits the planet and is good business. Companies that adopt this vision will be better prepared to tackle the challenges of the future.
