As part of the Más Pymex* initiative promoted by the Nuevo León Chamber of Industry (Caintra) and large local companies, EGADE Business School - Tecnológico de Monterrey will impart the executive program “Development of SMEs” to entrepreneurs and leaders of 44 carefully-selected small and medium-sized companies.

This was announced on August 24 during the launch of Más Pymex, within the framework of the 2023 Expo Pyme in the city of Monterrey.

The event was attended by Máximo Vedoya, CEO of Ternium and Chairman of Caintra, and Leopoldo Cedillo, CEO of Grupo Proeza, Vice President of Caintra and leader of the initiative.

Más Pymex, Cedillo pointed out, came into being in response to the current phenomenon of nearshoring and with the objective of promoting the growth and development of SMEs in Mexico in order to strengthen industrial value chains.

Within this initiative, he continued, EGADE Business School’s SME Development Program provides the necessary tools to increase competitiveness.

SME DEVELOPMENT

In a meeting after the launch event, Paul Juárez, Director of Attraction and Admissions at EGADE Business School, presented the SME Development executive program to representatives of Caintra, the large supporting companies and the participating SMEs.

The program, he detailed, consists of six thematic modules and a project development workshop, delivered by EGADE Business School professors.

The modules are "Future Thinking in business model innovation", "Marketing and Commercialization", "Human Capital as a strategic business partner", "Finance", "Operations Management and Industry 4.0" and "Ensuring the Sustainability of the family business".

The objective of the program, he explained, is to provide entrepreneurs and SME leaders with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to grow their productivity, strengthen their business management, and increase their competitiveness.

With a total duration of 66 hours, the program will be taught at EGADE Business School, Monterrey site, with sessions beginning on August 30, 2023, and ending on February 15, 2024.

The 44 SMEs that make up the program’s first generation were selected from more than 20,000 SMEs that supply the large companies that are promoting the initiative.

MÁS PYMEX

Cedillo highlighted that, in the first stage of the Más Pymex initiative, 12 large companies from Nuevo León committed to increasing their purchases from SMEs by 1%. As a result, they added more than 592 million dollars in purchases from July 2022 to June 2023, 23% more than the original goal and benefitting more than 3,000 SMEs.

These large companies, he acknowledged, were Arca Continental, Autlán, Cemex, Clarios, Femsa, Frisa, Metalsa, Protexa, Ragasa, Sigma, Ternium and Xignux.

The Grupo Proeza CEO went on to announce that next year more companies are expected to join the initiative to promote even more SMEs.
