EGADE Launches a New Executive Education Program for Transforming Women’s Purposeful Leadership in Organizations

Submitted by jose.paz on Wed, 08/03/2022 - 08:30

Women Leading Organizations provides experiences and tools for executive women in leadership positions who wish to discover their purpose as leaders, develop their potential, advance in their career plan, and participate on Boards.

By INSTITUTIONAL COMMUNICATION | EGADE BUSINESS SCHOOL

EGADE Business School at Tecnológico de Monterrey has announced the launch of Women Leading Organizations, the latest in-person intensive program in its Executive Education portfolio.

This program will offer executive women in leadership positions the opportunity to develop the necessary key skills to discover their purpose as leaders, develop their potential, advance in their career plan, and participate effectively on Boards, through an immersive and intensive leadership program that will take place from November 7 to 11 in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.

The importance of generating and participating in this type of program becomes clear when reviewing the most recent study “Woman Matter Mexico 2022”, by the consulting firm McKinsey & Company, which notes that the higher up we look in an organization’s hierarchy, the levels of representation of women are lower: from 40% at the entry levels to an executive career, women's participation drops to 21% in vice-president or similar positions, and to just 10% in senior management or president positions.

Having more women in leadership positions generates a positive impact on organizations and the economy in general. “We live in an increasingly diverse and global society. Leadership positions in organizations also need to be increasingly diverse and global, which is why at EGADE Business School we are working to transform the leadership of executive women with the tools, techniques and skills necessary to face the complex challenges of leading digital, diverse and inclusive organizations that have a positive, significant impact on the societies of our Latin American countries,” said María Elena Vázquez Lira, dean of Tecnológico de Monterrey’s Business School and leader of the Woman Leading Organizations program.

This 48-hour program is divided into five days of work, and consists of five modules: Consciousness and Purpose; Self-Care; Tools; Inner power; and Empowerment.

Participants will also benefit from high-profile networking and from the expertise of internationally renowned instructors, including:

  • Joanna Barsh, Director Emeritus, McKinsey & Company, and founder of the Centered Leadership program at this global consulting firm.
  • Nilima Bhat, coauthor of Shakti Leadership, international visionary, speaker and coach in the fields of leadership, mindfulness, and diversity and inclusion.
  • Raj Sisodia, cofounder and global leader of the Conscious Capitalism movement, Distinguished University Professor of Conscious Enterprise, Tecnológico de Monterrey, and president of the Center for Conscious Enterprise at this same institution.

“This exclusive program is designed for women leaders in Latin America who belong to the C-suite or aspire to that level in the short-term, in companies or organizations, enabling them to connect with their purpose, align their strengths with their actions, and define their legacy of leadership in the company of a support network made up of expert women who will share tools and wisdom in an immersive learning experience for change,” concluded Lourdes Ocampo, academic leader of Woman Leading Organizations and EGADE Business School professor.

SWIT Group Leads the Compilation of a Report on Circular Economy Best Practices

Submitted by jose.paz on Tue, 07/19/2022 - 20:26

The 2030 Agenda Circular Economy Working Group presented the document within an initiative of Mexico’s Business Coordinating Council and Global Compact Mexico.

By JOSÉ ÁNGEL DE LA PAZ | EGADE BUSINESS SCHOOL

The SWIT research group of EGADE Business School - Tecnológico de Monterrey led the compilation of the report “Circular Economy Best Practices.

Eduardo Aguiñaga Maldonado, Research Professor and Director of Full-Time Programs at EGADE Business School, and Bertha Leticia Treviño Elizondo, Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences student at Tec de Monterrey, both of whom are members of the SWIT group, were in charge of this task.

The document describes best practices in Mexico’s private sector and provides tools for companies of any size to transition from a linear to a circular economy, seeking to further the country’s sustainable development.

In detail, the SWIT group analyzed the best practices of Grupo Alen, Arca Continental, Heineken México, Bio Pappel, Coca-Cola FEMSA, Braskem Ideas, and Natura, organizing them through the ReSOLVE framework, developed by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the consulting firm McKinsey & Company.

“We hope these best practices will inspire other organizations to transition to a circular model,” Aguiñaga commented.

The circular economy focuses on changing the linear model that currently predominates and which is based on practices such as the extraction of virgin resources, product manufacturing, and their ultimate disposal.

This linear model is, by design, environmentally harmful and inefficient, so the circular economy has emerged as a viable alternative to reverse this dynamic, regenerating natural and social systems, and creating opportunities for economic and social prosperity for all, as well as new industrial operating models,” the report affirms.

The 2030 Agenda Working Groups (AWG2030) comprise a joint initiative of Mexico’s Business Coordinating Council and Global Compact Mexico, seeking to fulfill the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the 2030 Agenda.

There are 18 working groups in the framework of this initiative, one of which is the 2030 Agenda Circular Economy Working Group. From a systemic perspective, this group aims to drive a culture for businesses’ transition towards a circular economy in Mexico.

ABOUT THE SWIT GROUP

SWIT is a think tank of EGADE Business School, led by Professor Carlos Scheel, designed to engage sustainability, technology, innovation strategy, and industrial engineering experts, centered on producing frameworks, methodologies, and viable practices, to solve relevant problems for companies, industries, and society, and create growing sustainable returns and prosperous regional growth.
