Roberto Durán Fernández es profesor en la Escuela de Gobierno y Transformación Pública del Tecnológico de Monterrey. Es economista por el ITAM, cuenta con una maestría en economía por la London School of Economics y se doctoró por la Universidad de Oxford, especializándose en desarrollo regional. Ha sido consultor para el Regulador de Pensiones del Reino Unido, el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo, la Corporación Andina de Fomento y la Organización Mundial de la Salud. En la iniciativa privada colaboró en la práctica del sector público de McKinsey & Co y la dirección de finanzas públicas e infraestructura de Evercore. En el sector público fue funcionario en la SHCP y en el Banco de México. Actualmente es investigador del Grupo de Trabajo sobre Nearshoring de la Escuela de Negocios y EGADE Business School.

Roberto R. Barrera has held executive positions in numerous Mexican public and private organizations and is an international speaker. Dr. Barrera specializes in markets and financial institutions, and energy, and publishes in these areas. He received the Special Award prize for his research at the 2020 International IMEF-EY Conference. Dr. Barrera has been President of the CFA Society of Mexico, President of the MIT Club of Mexico, Member of the Educational Council at MIT, among other voluntary activities. He is Course Professor at EGADE and has taught graduate, undergraduate, and professional courses in other institutions. Dr. Barrera holds a PhD in Financial Sciences from EGADE, an MSc in Management (Finance) from MIT, a LLM in Constitutional Law, a LLB and a BS in Engineering. He has earned the CFA and FRM professional designations.

Rolando Fuentes

Rolando Fuentes

RESEARCH PROFESSOR OF ECONOMICS AND FINANCE

Rolando has experience working for the public sector, where he first held the position of Director of International Negotiations at SENER (Secretaría de Energía) and another executive position as Director of the hydrocarbons division. Regarding his academic achievements, he was a fellow of the London School of Economics (LSE), where he lectured and taught courses in Environmental Economics and Environmental Policy, while he also supervised master’s dissertations. In addition to that, he has also been a research fellow of the Oxford Institute of Energy Studies, the IHS CERA, and the Center for Strategic Studies at Tecnológico de Monterrey. His research mainly focuses on new business models in the energy sector, innovation, and energy policy. Before joining the EGADE faculty, he was a Research Fellow II for the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC), an institution based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia which is focused on researching global energy economics.

Professor of Finance at EGADE Business School

Samuel Mongrut holds a Ph.D in Finance from Universitat de Barcelona (Spain), a Master in Economics from Maastricht University (Netherlands) and a bachelor degree from Universidad del Pacifico (Peru). He studied Quantitative Economics at the Netherlands Network of Quantitative Economics (NAKE) and he has participated in research projects at the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) from the University of Chicago (United States). Currently, he is professor of finance at the EGADE Business School from the Tecnologico de Monterrey and associated researcher at the Universidad del Pacifico (Peru). Professor Mongrut has been Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Cerrajes Group in Mexico, member of the Economic Committee of the National Confederation of Private Institutions and Companies in Peru (CONFIEP), associated consultant at Ernst and Young (EY, Peru) and Chairman at the Environmental Management Accounting and Sustainability Network (EMAN) Chapter Americas. He has been visiting professor at several universities in more than 15 countries including Toulouse Business School (France and Spain), Kedge Business School (France), Universidad Federico Santa Maria (Chile), International Business School from Vilnius University (Lithuania), Universidad ICESI (Colombia), Universidad EAFIT (Colombia), Universidad Ana G. Mendez (Puerto Rico), among others. Professor Mongrut has published more than 100 articles in the financial press and academic journals such as the Journal of Business Research, Emerging Markets Review, Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, among others. His work had received several academic prizes from the Mexican Stock Exchange, the International Finance Conference, CLADEA, and others.

Sascha is Research Professor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation with EGADE Business School at Tecnologico de Monterrey. He holds an affiliation as researcher in international entrepreneurship with Turku School of Economics at the University of Turku in Finland. In addition, he is a visiting lecturer at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen in Germany teaching business in the context of Latin America. He received a PhD degree with distinction in International Business from University of Turku and a Master degree in Business and Engineering from Technische Universität Kaiserslautern in Germany. His research interest is focused on the intersection of entrepreneurship, innovation, and international business.

He has more than 5 years of experience from a consulting perspective focused on the interpretation and analysis of financial statements, projects of mergers, acquisitions and diverstitures, carrying out due diligence reports, development of business strategies, capital markets: IPO readiness, accounting advice IFRS-US GAAP, structuring of sustainable projects from a development banking approach promoting the financing of renewable energy projects.
