Innovación Social y Sustentabilidad

El Grupo de Investigación con Enfoque Estratégico en Innovación Social y Sustentabilidad busca alinear a las empresas y a la sociedad mediante el desarrollo de modelos de negocios para resolver los problemas sociales y ambientales en América Latina.

Primero, probamos modelos comerciales conocidos para resolver problemas sociales con el fin de comprender el contexto y las instituciones de América Latina y validar estos modelos comerciales para determinar si resuelven problemas sociales en América Latina (ej., microfinanzas, modelos de base de la pirámide, responsabilidad social corporativa, gestión de recursos humanos y gestión de grupos de interés). En segundo lugar, buscamos comprender los mecanismos de los modelos comerciales que afectan los problemas sociales. Preguntamos ¿qué factores limitan la eficacia de los modelos comerciales actuales? ¿Qué factores mejoran la eficacia de los modelos comerciales actuales? En tercer lugar, buscamos desarrollar nuevos modelos de negocios para América Latina estableciendo su vigencia y capacidad para resolver problemas ambientales y sociales en la región.

El GIEE de Finanzas y Macroeconomía investiga la forma en que los mercados financieros y las empresas interactúan en un mundo global. Busca además entender el impacto de las decisiones que toman los agentes públicos y privados sobre las condiciones de la actividad económica real y la estructura industrial a nivel internacional, nacional y regional.

Las líneas de investigación de este grupo incluyen:

Estrategia y Administración de las Organizaciones en Economías Emergentes

Nuestro Grupo de Investigación se enfoca en analizar las estrategias, las estructuras y los procesos gerenciales que permiten a las organizaciones ser más competitivas y sustentables al tener un mayor impacto en sus grupos de interés, contribuyendo así con el bienestar social, económico y ambiental de las regiones donde operan.

El punto de partida para nuestro trabajo, lo constituyen las condiciones institucionales y culturales que imperan en las economías emergentes de América Latina y de otras regiones del mundo, donde las organizaciones desarrollan e implementan sus modelos de negocios e intentan mejorar su competitividad y sustentabilidad. En un nivel más aplicado, nuestras investigaciones se enmarcan en las perspectivas teóricas de capacidades dinámicas, administración del conocimiento, así como procesos de transferencia de prácticas. Algunos miembros de nuestro Grupo de Investigación también se enfocan en fenómenos relativos a la base de la pirámide social y las microfinanzas.

Desde otra perspectiva de estudio, este Grupo de Investigación también aborda a las organizaciones que se desempeñan en ambientes altamente globalizados, del que se deriva el segundo enfoque principal de nuestras investigaciones. Esto es, los negocios y la administración internacionales, incluyendo las estrategias globales, los procesos de internacionalización, el multiculturalismo al interior de las organizaciones, la administración internacional de los recursos humanos y el liderazgo global.

Finalmente, algunos miembros han publicado avances en la educación en Negocios dirigida tanto a estudiantes universitarios como a ejecutivos, especialmente en las áreas de Finanzas y de Negocios Internacionales.

Emprendimiento e Innovación

Al final de la década de los setenta, el Tecnológico de Monterrey consideró deseable que sus egresados tuvieran una actitud emprendedora y no solo como meta ocupar puestos en empresas ya establecidas. Para ello era necesario dar a los alumnos una formación especial que no solamente les presentara el camino del emprendimiento, sino que les diera las herramientas necesarias para transitar en ese camino. Así fue como en 1978 comenzó el Programa Empresario, a través de un pequeño grupo de profesores y empresarios que guiaron a un grupo de alumnos en el proceso de creación de una empresa. Este programa se transformó posteriormente en el Programa Emprendedor. Gracias a este programa, se han detonado diversos proyectos de apoyo que continúan promoviendo el espíritu emprendedor de la comunidad del Tecnológico de Monterrey generando uno de los ecosistemas de emprendimiento universitario más dinámicos y completos de América Latina e incluso del mundo.

El emprendimiento es parte del ADN de la Institución. El Tec fue fundado por emprendedores y es un semillero de jóvenes emprendedores que al graduarse se convierten en empresarios exitosos (41% de los egresados han iniciado por lo menos una empresa) que han generado 2.8 millones de empleos e innovando en una gran cantidad de áreas según el “Estudio Impacto Económico de los Egresados del Tec de Monterrey en el Mundo” (QS, 2018).

Como grupo de investigación, nuestro objetivo es potenciar y difundir la investigación en el ámbito del emprendimiento y la innovación como herramientas fundamentales para fortalecer el desarrollo económico y social enfocándonos en estas líneas de investigación:

  1. Ecosistemas de emprendimiento: tiene como objetivo el estudio sistemático de las implicaciones económicas y sociales de la creación de nuevas empresas, así como los actores y las condiciones relevantes para potenciar las actividades de emprendimiento. Dentro de este tema se analizará el contexto y las características del emprendimiento en sus tres niveles: individual, regional y nacional.
  2. Emprendimiento social: Su objetivo es el estudio de procesos en torno a los negocios que se crean para mayores metas sociales y ambientales y no solo la búsqueda de ganancias. Esto incluye la noción de emprendimiento consciente y la relación de actividades emprendedoras que tienen impacto social.
  3. Educación para el emprendimiento: Tiene como objetivo analizar los procesos de enseñanza del emprendimiento desde una perspectiva de gestión. En consecuencia, se busca tener una mejor comprensión del impacto de los cursos de emprendimiento en la educación superior, los mecanismos que generan el emprendimiento y el desarrollo profesional, además del estudio de las motivaciones emprendedoras y contextos culturales.
  4. Emprendimiento corporativo: Tiene como objetivo analizar qué procesos de innovación dentro de las organizaciones establecidas generan nuevas oportunidades de negocio y la consecuente creación de emprendimientos corporativos. Este tema incluye el estudio de la cultura del emprendimiento al interior de la organización, la estrategia de innovación y los mecanismos para implementar programas o proyectos de emprendimiento, incluido el capital riesgo corporativo.

Consumer Behavior and Conscious Marketing

El Grupo de Investigación con Enfoque Estratégico, GIEE, hoy conocido como “Consumer Behavior and Conscious Marketing”, nace de la fusión de tres cátedras de investigación del Tecnológico de Monterrey. Por un lado, la cátedra Mercadotecnia y Desarrollo Sostenible que se desarrollaba en Campus Toluca y que estaba coordinada por la Dra. Lorena Carrete con la participación de la Dra. Pilar Arroyo y la Mta. Sara Isabel García López. Por otro lado, la cátedra de investigación Glocalización: Entendiendo al Consumidor Latino formando una importante tradición en Campus Monterrey y que estaba bajo la dirección de la Dra. Raquel Castaño con la participación relevante de la Dra. Claudia Quintanilla, y por último, la cátedra Consumidor, Marca y Competitividad en Ciudad México con la coordinación del Dr. Jorge Vera y las participaciones destacadas de la Dra. Andrea Trujillo, el Dr. Rajagopal y el Dr. Edgar Centeno.

Aunque en un principio este GIEE se denominó “Comportamiento del Consumidor y Creación de Valor”, en un esfuerzo por darle un enfoque más preciso y trascedente, las líneas de investigación se fusionaron y re-orientaron hasta llegar al nombre que ahora ostenta. Así, actualmente, los esfuerzos de investigación en este GIEE se inspiran en el siguiente pensamiento: “El comportamiento consciente del consumidor y las estrategias de marketing conscientes no solo producirán más valor social y ecológico, sino también un mayor desempeño financiero a largo plazo para las organizaciones”.

Branding y percepción del consumidor. La marca ha desempeñado un papel de liderazgo en el marketing durante los últimos 30 años. La marca se considera el vehículo principal para comunicar y gestionar los beneficios de los productos y servicios para el consumidor. En esta línea de investigación, los estudios realizados tratan acerca de los efectos de las percepciones de marca en el comportamiento del cliente. Aquí se analizan variables como el desempeño del producto/ servicio, el valor percibido, la identificación de la marca con el consumidor, los patrones de compra y el desempeño de la marca. Nuestros estudios enfatizan el uso responsable y sostenible de las marcas y las estrategias de marketing.

Marketing digital y difusión de innovaciones. En coherencia con los temas prioritarios de la Escuela de Negocios del Tecnológico de Monterrey relacionados con el emprendimiento, la innovación y el uso de la tecnología, esta línea de investigación estudia el desarrollo de los negocios en el entorno digital, así como la adaptación del consumidor a ese entorno. Aquí se estudia el efecto de tecnologías y productos innovadores en los cambios de comportamiento de las personas, como los procesos de adopción y los cambios culturales. Los temas relevantes aquí son los perfiles de adopción de productos, los canales de comercio electrónico y los impactos tecnológicos.

Decisiones de consumo responsable y bienestar social. La humanidad avanza hacia una sociedad sostenible, y hoy más que nunca el tema del consumo responsable y los comportamientos adquieren una importancia estratégica. El consumo responsable deriva del reconocimiento de las repercusiones que tiene el consumo superfluo, excesivo o nocivo, tanto personal como colectivo, sobre el equilibrio entre el bienestar económico, medioambiental y social. Por ello, y de acuerdo con el enfoque de la Escuela de Negocios para promover el valor compartido y los negocios consentidores, esta línea se enfoca en identificar los determinantes del comportamiento sustentable que lleven a delinear intervenciones, políticas, esfuerzos educativos y campañas de mercadeo social para promover el bienestar personal y social.

Business Analytics

La toma de decisión estratégica en la actualidad requiere de un uso más eficiente y analítico de la información. No sólo en su creación, compilación sino también en su procesamiento e interpretación. Por ello la creación de esta área y grupo de investigación buscar ser una puerta de análisis para tal propósito, e ir creciendo al desarrollar y detectar competencias y necesidades que puedan apoyarse desde este grupo.

El grupo se enfoca en analizar utilizando herramientas de analítica: visualización, análisis de regresión, operaciones, etc. problemáticas de empresas y procesos, fenómenos económicos, comportamientos de consumo, entre otros que puedan apoyarse en el uso de este tipo de herramientas para generar soluciones y propuestas más acordes a la realidad del problema.

Dentro del GIEE de Business Analytics, se ha buscado combinar desde el punto de vista de los negocios el desarrollo de modelos, propuestas científicas, entre otras que atiendan necesidades particulares de toma de decisión a través del desarrollo y publicación de artículos científicos en journals, artículos de divulgación, así como participación en congresos y conferencias tanto nacionales como internacionales.

Las líneas de investigación son multidisciplinarias y el vaso comunicante es la utilización de herramientas de analítica de negocios: Operaciones y cadena de suministro; Sistemas de control; y Comportamiento del consumidor.
