What is the Dunning Latin America Centre?
The Dunning Latin America Centre (DLAC) is a strategic partnership between Henley Business School, University of Reading and EGADE Business School, Tecnológico de Monterrey, dedicated to advancing research and thought leadership on multinational enterprises, innovation, trade, investment, and economic development across Latin America.
As the regional hub of the Dunning Centre for International Business at Henley Business School, DLAC builds on nearly 60 years of policy-relevant research that promotes sustainable and equitable growth. The Centre serves as a platform for academic excellence, industry collaboration, and policy influence, driving insights that support long-term, inclusive development in the region.
DLAC brings together academics, business leaders, and policymakers to examine how foreign direct investment, global value chains, and international business strategies can strengthen Latin America's competitiveness. Through engagement with academia, industry, and government, the Centre generates actionable knowledge that informs strategy, policy, and practice across the region.
Vision
The Dunning Latin America Centre aspires to become the region's leading hub for research and engagement on international business and strategy. We envision a Latin America where evidence-based insights on multinational enterprises, foreign direct investment, and global value chains inform strategic decisions that drive competitiveness, innovation, and prosperity across the region. Through rigorous scholarship and meaningful collaboration, we aim to bridge the gap between academic research, business practice, and public policy to support Latin America's integration into the global economy.
Mission
The DLAC is committed to three core pillars that guide our work:
Advancing Knowledge: We generate rigorous, policy-relevant research on multinational enterprises (MNEs), foreign direct investment (FDI), and global value chains (GVCs) in Latin America. Our research addresses the region's unique challenges and opportunities, contributing to the global understanding of international business in emerging markets.
Fostering Dialogue: We provide a dynamic platform for meaningful exchange among policymakers, business practitioners, and academics across Latin America and beyond. By convening diverse stakeholders, we facilitate knowledge sharing and collaborative problem-solving on critical issues affecting the region's economic development.
Driving Impact: We are dedicated to contributing to inclusive and sustainable development throughout Latin America. Our work aims to inform strategies and policies that promote equitable growth, reduce inequality, and strengthen the region's role in the global economy.
