Education helps develop individuals capable of addressing today’s business challenges and making significant contributions to growth and development.
In episode 209 of Territorio Negocios, Mireya Reyes, Director of Academic Projects for the Mexico City region of Tecnológico de Monterrey's Undergraduate Business School, and Octavio Cristain, Director of Organization at Banorte, discussed this topic.
Both spoke with Alicia Galindo, Director of the Master in Finance at EGADE Business School at Tecnológico de Monterrey, who hosted the episode.
Cristain spoke about how talent development has evolved: “Now more than ever, organizations require well-rounded profiles, critical thinking, digital skills, adaptability, and a strong ethical and collaborative mindset.”
He noted that technical knowledge alone is insufficient; companies need individuals who can work effectively in diverse environments, value inclusion, and are committed to continuous learning.
Reyes shared the progress Tecnológico de Monterrey has made in this area, including the creation of the Tec21 educational model, which aims for students not only to acquire knowledge but also to apply what they’ve learned, offering organizations a true value proposition.
One of the companies with which students collaborated was Banorte. In this regard, Cristain commented: “The students truly challenged us, questioned us, and helped us identify blind spots.”
Reyes used this example with Banorte to reflect on the importance of working in multidisciplinary teams within education. She also spoke about the value of partnerships with institutions as co-educators.
“For us, organizations that become co-educators become an extended classroom of Tec, because they are also shaping students through their leadership,” she said.
