The adoption of artificial intelligence is beginning to transform strategic decision-making by providing tools that process information, reduce bias, and anticipate potential scenarios within organizations.
In the episode "Do CEOs Think Better with AI?" of Territorio Negocios, Eva María Guerra, Associate Academic Dean of EGADE Business School, spoke with Raúl Montalvo, Director of EGADE Business School in the Western Region and Director of the EGADE MBA in Guadalajara, about the impact of AI on executive reasoning.
Montalvo emphasized that, for him, the most significant contribution of this tool is its ability to expand the strategic vision of executives: it enables leaders to identify patterns and elements that would otherwise go unnoticed.
“It helps us see what we might not be seeing, to capture what we may not be capturing with a different critical eye,” he said.
Among its most valuable functions is scenario simulation, which helps anticipate potential consequences; however, data quality remains a challenge.
Montalvo warns that “there is a lot of data we believe we have but do not capture correctly,” which can complicate the transition from Big Data to Smart Data.
The conversation also addressed the need for a cultural shift within organizations. For Montalvo, “we don’t need to fit the business into the technology, but rather the technology into the business,” which implies fostering a mindset open to experimentation and continuous learning.
Finally, the expert highlighted that leadership must adapt to these changes to leverage the potential of artificial intelligence. “Leadership must be inclusive, visionary, and have a certain measurable and measured tolerance for risk,” underscoring the importance of combining human judgment with technological capabilities to drive business strategy.
