Rafa Márquez to be keynote speaker with 4CTITUD at the EGADE Annual Alumni Reunion 2026

Rafa Márquez, head coach of the Mexico National Football Team, will participate on September 4 as keynote speaker at the EGADE Annual Alumni Reunion 2026, to be held at the Santa Fe location of EGADE Business School at Tecnológico de Monterrey.
The former footballer and coach will present 4CTITUD, an experience in which he will revisit defining moments in his journey to share lessons on the challenges, goals and decisions that shape the development of personal or business ventures.
Through stories from sports, his personal life and business, Márquez will reflect on the path that took him from his beginnings in Zamora, Michoacán, to becoming captain of the Mexico National Team and building an international career.
It will be his first appearance as a speaker since being appointed head coach of the national team, a role announced in July 2026 after he served on Javier Aguirre’s coaching staff.
His participation at EGADE will also come just weeks before a new chapter with El Tri: his debut as Mexico’s head coach will be on September 26 in Baltimore against Colombia.
From Zamora to international football: a journey of challenges and lessons
Over the course of his career, Márquez competed in five FIFA World Cups and captained Mexico in five consecutive editions, from 2002 to 2018.
One of the defining stages of his international career came with FC Barcelona, where he played from 2003 to 2010 and won four La Liga titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies, along with other domestic and international championships.
That journey provides the narrative thread for 4CTITUD, a play on his iconic number 4 and the Spanish word “actitud” (“attitude”). From his early challenges and ambitions to his rise in international football, Márquez will share the experiences and decisions that helped him move through different stages of his career.
The keynote will connect those lessons with the challenges involved in developing personal and business ventures, drawing on a journey shaped by setting goals, overcoming obstacles and adapting to new circumstances.
An Annual Alumni Reunion to reconnect and expand the EXATEC EGADE community
Márquez’s keynote will be one of the highlights of the ninth EGADE Annual Alumni Reunion, an event exclusively for the EXATEC EGADE community that will bring together alumni from different generations, programs and locations on September 4 in Santa Fe.
The 2026 edition is structured around the themes Return, Amplify and Expand, with activities focused on reconnecting the community, professional development, leadership and creating new connections.
In addition to Márquez’s keynote, the program will feature Mildred Villegas Sojo (MBA'04), General Manager of Unilever Mexico and Foods Latin America and an alumna of the EGADE MBA, in a Fireside Chat on leadership and the business environment, as well as the presentation of the EXATEC EGADE Merit Award 2026 and a range of networking and community-building activities.
Márquez brings to the gathering a perspective shaped by decades of international competition and experience across different leadership roles: from player to captain and, later, from coach to the person responsible for leading the Mexico National Team.
