María Concepción del Alto, professor in the Department of Finance and Business Economics at EGADE Business School of Tecnológico de Monterrey, has been appointed President of the Instituto Mexicano de Ejecutivos de Finanzas (IMEF) Monterrey Group for the 2026 term, in recognition of her academic and professional trajectory and her sustained contribution to the analysis and development of financial leadership in Mexico.
The appointment was formalized throughout 2025 across various IMEF institutional settings at both national and local levels. Her term at the helm of IMEF Monterrey Group began on January 1, 2026, and will conclude on December 31 of the same year. Prior to this, on December 3, 2025, at the Club Industrial in Monterrey, she was sworn in alongside her Board of Directors before the local members’ assembly.
Upon assuming the role, Del Alto underscored the sense of responsibility that comes with leading one of IMEF’s most active groups nationwide. “Presiding over the IMEF Monterrey Group represents a great responsibility and a commitment to financial analysis, professional development, and the creation of value for companies and organizations,” she said.
The IMEF Monterrey Group is the second largest in the country and is part of a national network that brings together nearly 1,300 members, including business leaders and representatives from academia, positioning it as a key forum for economic reflection and informed decision-making.
With more than 20 years of involvement with IMEF, Del Alto has contributed to multiple initiatives focused on economic analysis, executive development, and the strengthening of financial leadership. Among these is her leadership of the Work Life Balance Forum, conceived as a platform to promote changes in organizational structures and to support equal opportunities for women and men in the workplace. “Through this forum, we seek to open spaces for reflection that help create more equitable conditions and rethink leadership practices within organizations,” she explained.
She has also served as President of the IMEF Gender Equity Award, an initiative granted in alliance with Mujeres en Finanzas (MEF). Del Alto led this initiative at the national level from its launch in 2022, with the aim of recognizing companies and organizations with best practices that highlight the value women bring to the economy, while also promoting their access to leadership positions.
Looking ahead to her term, Del Alto noted that her work plan includes strengthening collaboration with other business and professional organizations, maintaining and positioning IMEF Monterrey’s flagship events, and continuing to foster spaces for analysis on strategic topics such as the free trade agreement, as well as tax and legal changes that influence corporate decision-making. She also aims to broaden participation among women, young executives, and emerging talent, as well as leaders from companies establishing operations in the region.
In addition to her academic role and participation in IMEF, María Concepción del Alto serves as an independent board member, contributing a strategic perspective to corporate governance and decision-making processes across various organizations.
Regarding collaboration between IMEF and academia, she highlighted its strategic value for the country’s development. “Bringing together academia, the private sector, and the public sector makes it possible to promote better practices and value-generating projects with greater impact on the community,” she stated, emphasizing the potential of EGADE Business School to advance joint initiatives in this area.
As part of her career, Del Alto was honored with the Mujer Tec Award 2025 in the special Career Achievement category for her leadership and impact in the education and finance sectors. At EGADE Business School, she has served as National Director of the Master in Finance and as Research Director of the Burkenroad Mexico Program, and her teaching has been recognized with distinctions such as “Professors Who Leave a Mark” during Tecnológico de Monterrey’s 70th anniversary.
She holds a PhD in Finance from the A. B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University, as well as a Master’s degree in Management and a Certified Public Accountant degree from Tecnológico de Monterrey. Her appointment as President of the IMEF Monterrey Group further reinforces EGADE Business School’s role as a benchmark for developing and projecting leaders who actively contribute to the country’s economic and financial development.
