It all started with a question in the classroom. Miguel Arzate, Bernardo González, Jorge Polanco, and Daniel Tirado, then students of the EGADE MBA in Santa Fe, wondered whether the traditional case method—a staple in business education—could evolve to better serve the learning styles of new generations.
The answer became InterCase: an AI-powered interactive learning platform that aims to transform business education from within.
The team developed the venture during their studies at EGADE Business School of Tecnológico de Monterrey, supported by faculty members and academic leaders who guided their innovation and validation process.
The tool translates the traditional case method into dynamic and personalized learning experiences, aligning with current content consumption habits and the demands of active learning.
“We realized that although the case method is powerful, it was trapped in PDFs and documents that don’t generate interaction or align with today’s content consumption habits,” says Arzate.
The four entrepreneurs, who graduated with the June 2025 cohort of EGADE Business School in Santa Fe, identified key limitations faced by both professors and students when working with static case formats.
“The traditional process required professors to spend significant time preparing, analyzing, and facilitating cases, and for students, the experience was not always dynamic or personalized,” Arzate explains. “With InterCase, we aim to change that by offering a tool that enhances the learning experience through technology.”
The platform leverages AI to enrich case studies with realistic interactions, including avatars and automated chat, immediate guidance, performance analytics with gamification elements, and personalized recommendations. It also allows professors to streamline class preparation and receive real-time feedback on group progress.
A CLASSROOM-BORN INNOVATION
The first InterCase pilot was launched in April 2024, during a class taught by professor Eric Porras, who worked closely with the team to test and refine the concept.
“I had the opportunity to implement InterCase, a tool developed by my own students, in my Operations and Competitiveness course. From the very first session, the impact on learning was evident: my students not only gained a clearer understanding of real-world complexities through an interactive methodology, but also discovered firsthand the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in business,” says Porras.
Throughout the process, the team also received valuable support and guidance from professors Jairo Orozco, Christiane Molina, and Isaac Lucatero, along with Eloísa Pérez and her team at the EGADE Business School Educational Innovation Office.
Through teamwork, faculty mentorship, and multiple validation sessions, InterCase was solidified as a robust solution.
The team conducted user testing with real students at EGADE Business School, allowing them to fine-tune their value proposition. The results were promising: higher student engagement, faster feedback for faculty, and a much more immersive experience in case-solving.
“One of the most motivating moments was seeing genuine interest from professors and academic directors to test our tool. That’s when we knew we had something worth scaling,” recalls Arzate.
Another key milestone was their participation in incMTY 2024 in Monterrey, where they showcased the platform to a broader audience—once again, with EGADE’s support.
Today, InterCase is a fully operational platform, with a working model and a clear roadmap for growth. It currently features four adapted case studies and has been used by nearly 200 EGADE Business School students, with over 90% providing positive feedback.
For EGADE Business School, projects like InterCase are a tangible expression of its commitment to educational innovation and active learning. The school continues to promote the development of digital competencies, critical thinking, and transformational leadership among its students, creating an environment where ideas become real solutions.
“InterCase was a great opportunity to test innovation directly in the classroom alongside our professors. The results were very positive—students were more engaged, and the learning experiences became more dynamic. This reinforces our commitment to support projects that transform teaching at EGADE Business School,” says Pérez.
InterCase is not just a platform—it’s a living case study of how a new generation of leaders is rethinking the future of business education.
