Raj Sisodia, co-founder of the Conscious Capitalism movement, presented his latest book, Healing Leaders: 7 Steps to Recovery of Self, on February 11 at EGADE Business School's Monterrey site. The book invites leaders to transform their leadership through personal healing to build healthier, more purpose-driven organizations.

“You cannot be a conscious and healing leader in the world if you don’t work on your own healing,” said Sisodia, FEMSA Distinguished University Professor of Conscious Enterprise and co-president of the Center for Conscious Enterprises at Tecnológico de Monterrey.

His new work, co-authored with Nilima Bhat, is grounded in a central premise: in a world where businesses often create more harm than healing, organizational transformation must begin with the leader’s inner transformation.

Leadership, Sisodia noted, should not cost us our souls; yet too many executives find themselves spiritually and emotionally exhausted, leading organizations that drain rather than nurture human potential.

The book proposes a different path—one in which personal evolution becomes the foundation for meaningful business change. This reflection forms part of what Sisodia described as “the journey toward business as a force for healing.”

He acknowledged that “capitalism has enabled humanity to soar, yet confidence in big business has declined.”

In his view, the traditional model requires deep reconsideration: “Traditional American-style capitalism is not working as well as it needs to for ordinary people and for the planet.”

From this perspective, he argued that maintaining the status quo is no longer viable. “Business as usual is not an option. We need to rethink everything: why we exist, what we do, how we do it, who we are as leaders, our time horizon, and our definition of success.”

The challenge, he emphasized, is not only strategic, but also ethical and human.

JOURNEY TO CONSCIOUS CAPITALISM

The event opened with remarks by Francisco Fernández, Executive Director of the Center for Conscious Enterprises.

Gabriel Garza Martínez, Director of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships at the Center, announced the upcoming edition of the executive program Journey to Conscious Capitalism, a two-day workshop led by Raj Sisodia that explores the pillars of conscious capitalism and its impact on business.

The program will take place on March 10–11 in Guadalajara, May 12–13 in Monterrey, and May 26–27 in Mexico City.
