Over the past three decades, José Antonio Rivero Larrea (MA’91) has forged a path of impact, entrepreneurial vision, and social commitment, positioning him as an undisputed symbol of EXATEC EGADE leadership in Mexico.

Today, as Chairman of the Board of Compañía Minera Autlán, he leads organizations that not only generate economic value but also reflect a philosophy of ethical governance, strategic innovation, and a deep human sense.

His career began in the financial sector with a solid foundation at Grupo Alfa, where he held several positions over the course of ten years, including Treasurer and Planning Director for the food division. He later joined Valores Finamex as a trader and rose to become CEO in less than five years.

In the early 1990s, José Antonio set off on a new entrepreneurial path with the creation of Servicios Financieros Mexicanos, and soon after, he founded Grupo Ferrominero, marking the beginning of a brilliant chapter in his business trajectory.

Since then, he has led the creation and consolidation of companies across diverse industries, including mining, energy, aviation, electronics, textiles, and industrial machinery. He also founded Bodega Rivero González, a family-owned winery rooted in Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila.

His track record has earned him recurring recognition as one of the 100 most important business leaders in Mexico, according to Expansión magazine.

HIS VISION OF LEADERSHIP AND SUCCESS

For José Antonio, leadership means surrounding yourself with talent, fostering transparency, and building strong governance structures.

“The main role of the board chair is to ensure strong corporate governance. I place great value on my independent board members—they are there to challenge, guide, and ensure fair decisions for all shareholders,” he stated in an interview with El Siglo de Torreón.

His vision of leadership is clear: combining strategy with ethics, results with humanity. For that reason, he promotes independent audit committees, a management aligned with strategy, and a culture where every team member feels like an essential part of the project.

"We've succeeded in getting people to feel deeply committed to our organization. There's a sense of pride in working with us. We try to be fair and do things the right way," he affirms.

Beyond figures and titles, José Antonio measures success as a holistic life experience. "For me, family is the most important thing. If you succeed with your family, you're already on the right path," he states.

Based on that philosophy, he fosters workplaces where people feel heard, valued, and fulfilled. “Whatever you do in life, do it well. Make sure the people around you are happy, satisfied, and recognized. They are your second family.”

A graduate of the Bachelor’s in Computer Systems from Tecnológico de Monterrey and the Master in Business Administration from EGADE Business School, José Antonio has always been a strong believer in the transformative power of education.

"I truly believe in education. It is the key to improving people’s quality of life and transforming society."

Through his journey, José Antonio Rivero Larrea has shown that knowledge, combined with integrity and vision, can transform industries and leave a lasting legacy of impact.
