Jorge Luis Torres Aguilar (OneMBA’06) has built an extraordinary path at FedEx Mexico. He began his career in 1991 as a data entry clerk, and more than three decades later, he holds the position of Vice President of Operations, with a career marked by commitmentresilience, and a leadership vision rooted in human impact.

From his early days at the company, Jorge Luis believed in the value of connecting not just packages, but people as well. This conviction deepened during the pandemic, when FedEx became a vital player in the supply chain and a source of hope for thousands of people. “We see ourselves as a lifeline: we connect human beings, families, economies, businesses, and countries,” he stated in an interview with Líderes Mexicanos. This concept of a “lifeline” became the driving force to mobilize his team with a sense of deep purpose.

During the 2020 health crisis, he led FedEx Mexico in a binational airlift that enabled the delivery of over 300 ventilators purchased by the Mexican government with support from U.S. authorities.

His strategic leadership has also been evident in key moments for the organization, such as the integration of MultiPack into the FedEx network and the positioning of the Mexican subsidiary among the global top performers in revenue generation. In 2012, he was appointed President of FedEx Express Mexico, making him the first Mexican to lead the company’s nationwide operations.

Throughout his career, he has served in roles such as Director of Operations for the Northern District, Director of Administration and Engineering, and Quality and Assurance Manager for Mexico and Central America. Beyond FedEx, he has served as President of the American Chamber of Commerce of Mexico (AmCham/Mexico) and has been active in business organizations such as the Global Companies Council and the Mexican Courier Companies Association.

In 2020, he was honored with the EXATEC EGADE Distinguished Achievement Award, which celebrates the career and positive impact of EGADE Business School alumni. That same year, AACSB International included him in its global list of the 25 Influential Leaders of the Class of 2020.

EGADE has been much more than an educational institution in my life; it has been a school of life that helped me become a better person and a better professional,” Jorge Luis shared upon receiving the award.

For over three decades, he has led in the fields of logistics, transportation, and supply chains. He has delivered more than 300 international lectures on leadership, quality, trade, and entrepreneurship. For 22 consecutive years, he has contributed to FedEx being recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Mexico, according to Great Place to Work.

In June 2025, he was the guest speaker at the EGADE Business School graduation ceremony in Santa Fe. From the stage, he urged the graduates to embrace purpose-driven leadership, guided by a sense of meaningbelonging, and legacy, amid an era of geopolitical shiftsglobal disruptions, and the rise of artificial intelligence.

The perfect moment doesn’t exist. Stability doesn’t exist. True leadership is the kind that delivers results in spite of it all,” he said. With this life philosophy, Jorge Luis has become an inspiring role model within the EXATEC EGADE community.
